Saddam would want a much more substantial rabbit and I agree with Andy. If you want some BS story in print for the moonbats to lap up just get a peace sign flashlight, shine it into the night sky and they will beat a path to your door, take you to all the best c-ocktail parties, photograph you for the cover of Vanity Fair, and give you a seven figure book deal.

I shiver at the thought of asking this, but do you have any backup for your claim that Clinton said we would find “hundreds of thousands” in mass graves? Nevermind, that’s too hard. By the way, the death toll for the Balkan war was… drumroll please… over 100,000
Do you EVER get tired of being wrong, RW? Or do you just feed off of that?
P.S. Gotta love them neo-cons: when you find a mass grave it’s not “massive” enough, unless, of course, the grave was found by a fellow neo-con. P.P.S. RW, I see you quickly shut up about the Clinton claim that I backed up. I’ll take that as a “cut-and-run” argument — i.e. post some BS, get called on it, ignore that point from then on.

Double Post Not sure if anyone already linked to this. but Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) had a great speech about Iran and Iraq, just a week ago.
Washington sees Iran as a greater threat than Iraq ever was, a threat that cannot be ignored. Iran’s history is being ignored, just as we ignored Iraq’s history. This ignorance or deliberate misrepresentation of our recent relationship to Iraq and Iran is required to generate the fervor needed to attack once again a country that poses no threat to us. Our policies toward Iran have been more provocative than those towards Iraq…

David U… I really like this Ron Paul guy. A Republican who detests neocons. Applause.
“Intervention just doesn’t work. It backfires and ultimately hurts American citizens both at home and abroad. Spreading ourselves too thin around the world actually diminishes our national security through a weakened military. As the superpower of the world, a constant interventionist policy is perceived as arrogant, and greatly undermines our ability to use diplomacy in a positive manner.”

Parsing Ron Paul, whose manifesto reads like something out of The Onion:
There is little resistance to the rising clamor for “democratizing” Iran, even though their current president, Mahmoud Almadinejad, is an elected leader.
Suuuuurrre he was elected - after they disqualified the 1300 other opposition candidated.
Already the coordinating propaganda has galvanized the American people against Iran for the supposed threat it poses to us with weapons of mass destruction that are no more present than those Saddam Hussein was alleged to have had.
Uh-huh. Whatever.
The longtime Neo-con goal to remake Iraq prompted us to abandon the search for Osama bin Laden
So all those special forces guys are just hunting for Easter eggs.
Yet some Iraqis, who dream of stability, long for his authoritarian rule.
Uh-huh. Just like Kerry said the “Peasants” in South Vietnam really didn’t care if the Communists took over.
Common sense tells us the war in Iraq soon will spread to Iran. Fear of imaginary nuclear weapons or an incident involving Iran.
Imaginary weapons. Okaaaaaaaay.
I smell an expanded war in the Middle East, and pray that I’m wrong. I sense that circumstances will arise that demand support regardless of the danger and cost. Any lack of support, once again, will be painted as being soft on terrorism and al Qaeda
Sniff sniff. I smell Iran+Hezbollah+Islamic Jihad+Iraqi “insurgents”. No connection to state-sponsored terrorism. Nope - all in our imagination.
We have been forewarned that “all options” remain on the table.
How dare we prepare for all possibilities!
The hostage crisis and overthrow of the Shah by the Ayatollah was a major victory for the radical Islamists
Thank you Peanut for helping to depose the Shah and throwing your weight behind the Ayatollahs!
The sad truth is that the supposed dangers posed by Iran are no more real than those claimed about Iraq…There is no evidence of a threat to us by Iran, and no reason to plan and initiate a confrontation with *her.*
I love this. Nothing to worry about and use the feminine to describe Iran to subtly reduce the threat. I realize that this is how we USED to refer to nations, boats, and hurricanes, but what ever happened to non-gendered speech like he/she/it like the Left invented?
If Iran had a nuclear weapon, why would this be different from Pakistan, India, and North Korea having one? Why does Iran have less right to a defensive weapon than these other countries
Okay, here we get to the moral-relativism argument. India and North Korea - No difference between the two countries.
If Iran had a nuclear weapon, the odds of her initiating an attack against anybody— which would guarantee her own annihilation— are zero. And the same goes for the possibility she would place weapons in the hands of a non-state terrorist group
Well, if you’re a rational life-revering American this would make sense, but we’re dealing with someone who thinks he’s the Mahdi and is prepared to die for virgins (or is it raisins)?
How many of us would remain complacent if someone like Timothy McVeigh had been financed by a foreign power!
Um. Could it be that he was? Read The Third Terrorist by Jayna Davis and read the newly translated papers coming out of Iraq. Hint: Iraqi agents in the Philippines.
Paul disagrees with Michael Ledeen on this: “You can’t have freedom in Iran without bringing down the Mullahs.”
Freedom is just around the corner. Uh Huh.
Secretary of State Rice recently signaled a sharp shift towards confrontation in Iran policy as she insisted on $75 million to finance propaganda, through TV and radio broadcasts into Iran.
We can’t use the media. Oh No! This is a terrible waste of resources. Let the Iranofascists speak uninterrupted.
First, Iran doesn’t have a nuke and is nowhere close to getting one, according to the CIA.
So now we believe and trust in the CIA - the same CIA that we don’t trust on Iraq?
If you’re looking for a real kook with a bomb to worry about, North Korea would be high on the list. Yet we negotiate with Kim Jong Il.
No, actually that was John Kerry’s idea - unilateral talks. We’re not doing that thanks to Bush/Rice/Cheney. We’re in 6 way talks (not to be confused with a simultaneous 6 way).
Pakistan was never inspected by the IAEA as to their military capability
So are we for or against the UN? I guess we have to wait for their approval to take action, but keep in mind that they are completely incompetent.
Believe it or not, I’m done!

The lives and actions of people are their own responsibility, not the government’s.
From Rep Ron Paul’s website
Could we fairly conclude that he is kook Libertarian? If the “lives” of the American people are not the responsibility of the government, then why have a Defense Department? I guess we could delete the protect and defend requirement from the Presidential oath and just leave it at serve.
I like some Libertarian principles, and I’m all for limited Federal government, but I would never advocate that it abrogate ALL responsibility for its citizens.

More hyperbole. The Shah’s overthrow was brewing during Nixon-Ford. It would have been easier to stop a sunrise.
No, actually that was John Kerry’s idea - unilateral talks (with North Korea). We’re not doing that thanks to Bush/Rice/Cheney. We’re in 6 way talks (not to be confused with a simultaneous 6 way).
Nice way to warp the question with your answer. The US IS talking with North Korea while it resorts to threatening Iran. Paul is absolutely correct: “If you’re looking for a real kook with a bomb to worry about, North Korea would be high on the list. Yet we negotiate with Kim Jong Il.”

Seeker,
You don’t know anything about my attitude toward the homeless, except that I think it is absurd to say that they can be allowed to do whatever the hell they want wherever the hell they want.
I lived in NYC and I know what that extreme view of civil liberties brings you:
Liberty for the homeless, while the rest of the citizenry are at their mercy. I’ve been attacked by enough crazed drunks, psychos and drug addicts to know that that ACLU view is nothing but anarchy.
Now if one is to logically follow Wardlaw’s statement to its logical conclusion, then we have to throw out DUI arrests as it is not the drives fault that they have had too much to drink, especially since a great deal of the arguments were based on the concept that addiction is a disease - just like venereal disease.
Moreover, I never said ONE WORD about Abu Ghraib. The prisoners that I was JOKING about are in Guantanamo Bay.
You vote for compassion and chaos; I vote for compassion and civil order.

Ok fine, let go invade Iran. Like Andy has said; in about 2 weeks we will have won the battle against their military because fact is we are that much better than anyone else. But then what? We already saw in Iraq how freaking impossible it is to get a handle on guerilla warfare, specially when its religiously motivated.
So now we are stuck in Iraq fighting pockets of insurgents 6+ years running, add to that the new resistance in Iran, and hey now Syria is p** so they are next on the list right? Afganstan is still some thrid world country, plus Hamas is now a democratic power of Gaza (not only against us because we are pro-Israel, but hey we just engineered the world to stop funding their new government so their allegiance religiously and financially are now tied to even more extremist goals) and is just directing everyone in the middle east to flood Iran and Iraq to help the cause against those imperialistic Americans, defamers of Mohamed or whatever they call us.
What should have happened is we should have stayed only in Afghanistan, after our only goal which was OBL/Taliban. Put all the Iraq resources into rebuilding that country to show the US economic power of what democracy and capitalism can do for a country. But instead we went off to fight in Iraq, split our resources, Afghanistan now has a democratic government who’s just as backwards as the Taliban was minus the beheadings, the Taliban is still running around, Iraq cannot decided how to split the political pie three ways and refuses to, and Hamas who was elected is being left out to collect money from whom ever it wants.
We made the Palestine situation more volatile, and placed more American troops in the middle east (You know one of the pet peeves of Islam extremist, while we bombed to the stone age 2 countries). Yep all we need is to invade Iran. We need to do everything and anything possible to stay out of Iran, and when those options run out, make up new ones. Rebuild what we broke, that’s enough of a task as it is.

Worldwide protests 2004
A clue to what happens when one does protest in Iran is found here:
Iranians will gather for the commemoration of the July 9-14, 1999, Student Uprising of Iran and its legacy. They will show their rejection of the Islamic republic and cherish the memories of those fallen during the bloody governmental crackdown on the 5 glorious days of students protests.

“I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today” — Rep Tom Delay (R-TX), 1999.

The students were careful to emphasize their commitment to peaceful change and continued to believe in the possibility of democratic change from within the government. For this reason, they remained loyal to Khatami and elected a string of reformists to parliament in 2000. For a time, it seemed as if their revolution from within was working.
But, in fact, the atmosphere inside Iran grew more stifling. The ruling clerics, maneuvering to protect their conservative way of life, closed reformist newspapers, arrested and tortured opposition leaders, and dispatched their young religious vigilantes, known as Bassijis, to break up student demonstrations. The reforms Khatami seemed to represent had all but disappeared.

Ho hum…. Hats off to the tiny western democracy movement by Iranians. Its the thought that counts. But, like it or not, Ahmadinejad and supporters have the support of the “masses”.
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s ultraconservative president — spurning international outrage over his remarks about Israel — joined more than a million demonstrators who flooded the streets of the capital and other major cities Friday to back his call for the destruction of the Jewish state.
Ahmadinejad and the mullahs are doing a bang-up job of focusing Iran on “external enemies” like Israel and the US. And the US is going to just stroll in and bounce them out? Will we be greeted with cheers when we nuke their nukes?
Yes, I can see it now… “Mission Accomplished” banners all aflutter in the streets of Tehran as US troops are showered with flowers and candy! The mullas in Mashhad and Qum kissing Old Glory as they embrace religious liberty, freedom of speech and so on.

I’ll explain it simply, Danish, as to who you should believe: the Iranian people. You know, the ones who very recently voted in a super-hardline Ahmadinejad over his far more moderate and West-friendly opponent. Iran elections were pretty free, Danish, sorry to break it to ya. Previously they had elected a moderate President who urged cooperation with the West. Little Pinko,
Your logic yet again is highly suspect, if not completely nonexistent. There may be 25,000,000 people in Iraq, but there are not 25,000,000 Americans. There are only roughly 140,000 American troops, so your thinking just doesn’t work. The sources you sited for American cities show 1500 deaths out of a population of 14,000,000. In Iraq there have been 2500 deaths out of an American population of never more than about 140,000. It’s pretty obvious Iraq is more dangerous. Now if you want to factor in the Iraqi population, the 25,000,000 you mentioned, then you have to also factor in the number of Iraqis killed, which is probably somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 people. To compare the violence in American cities to Iraq is just plain foolish. Once again, you’re an idiot. You said you wanted to go to Baghdad; go ahead. There’s no one who’s better off with you here.

If you are going to compare the number of military casualties you have to compare them not to the number of Iraqis but rather to the number of US troops deployed in Iraq. Or else your comparison makes no sense.
But I agree, The US would take 2 weeks, 3 weeks tops to militarily conquer Iran, now to actually bring the peace? What was Pres Bush’s latest approximation for Iraq? In the next presidents term was it? So basically 6-7 years, thus around 2012 we could hope to be done with the insurgency in Iran; but then that would be if you trust the word of Pres Bush when it comes to foreign affairs.

Both the EU and Europol have been seeking a new concept for some time for the expression, “Islamic terrorism”.
Many experts believe that the words “Islam” and “terrorism” must not be used together, and concluded that the use of such expressions “alienates” Muslims in Europe.
Let’s hear some ideas! I’ll start -
How about Islamic Bunny Wabbit terrorism during Easter week.
Then I’d suggest we move to Mohammed’s Followers Spring Rage Frolic, followed by Allah’s Summer Genocide, and Mohammed’s Autumn Horn-a-Plenty Jihad Harvest, until we finally get to *Islam’s Nuclear Wintercapades.

Hey! A flash from the past! February, 2003 to be exact, a little over a month before the Iraq invasion. That’s when Paul Wolfowitz, then Deputy Defense Secretary told Congress how painless the war would be! Take it away, Wolfie!
In his testimony, Mr. Wolfowitz ticked off several reasons why he believed a much smaller coalition peacekeeping force than General Shinseki envisioned would be sufficient to police and rebuild postwar Iraq. He said there was no history of ethnic strife in Iraq, as there was in Bosnia or Kosovo. He said Iraqi civilians would welcome an American-led liberation force that “stayed as long as necessary but left as soon as possible,” but would oppose a long-term occupation force. And he said that nations that oppose war with Iraq would likely sign up to help rebuild it. “I would expect that even countries like France will have a strong interest in assisting Iraq in reconstruction,” Mr. Wolfowitz said.
For this, Wolfowitz was given a medal and sent to the World Bank by Bush!! Wowee!!
Now why would anyone, with even half a brain, support any future military action proposed by the Bush circus?

From most clippings I just read, Muslims and Coptics seem to “riot/fight/abuse each other/whatever you want to call it” once a year, all things considered that’s amazing! Opposite religions, one out numbers the other by 90%, living in a country that does not separate church and state….and they only fight once a year? Heck, They should probably go teach Shiites and Sunnis how to live in one country with 2 religions and them maybe take a swipe at the whole Palestine/Israel conflict.

Let’s see, the democrats escalated the war in Vietnam, got 58,000 men killed and ran screaming from there , abandoning an ally, right when they had the war won.
Bush has removed a dictator who was grinding up 100,000 of his own citizens a year, freeing 25,000,000 people from tyranny giving them voice in their own government, all at the amazingly low, but sad cost of 2400 American lifes, and we are not going to surrender this to a rag tag bunch of chickensh-it foreign car bombers.

Cynthia Tucker has had an out of body experience and I find it quite hilarious:
I was to find men willing to help him paint, lift, scrape, fill, dig. The pay was hardly exorbitant — $6 an hour. But it seemed reasonable for unskilled labor.
The going rate for construction work, even in Bama, is like $15 an hour, minimum. And here’s Clueless wielding $6 like it will open the kingdom to retirement.
This is so deliciously pitiful. How many times has Queen Pinko gone on record about the minimum wage being too low? I thought Bush was the hideous miser, starving infants and sending the elderly out to the garbage dump to scrounge for dinner?
Are these libs immune from seeing their own hypocrisy? Do they even care?
These are men (the poor, idle blacks in Cynthia’s hometown, or actually, some dudes not stupid enough to sweat over $6 an hour) who can no longer count the military as an option because it doesn’t want them.
Really? Then what was this all about?:

Generals defend Rumsfeld By Rowan Scarborough
Several retired generals who worked with Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, including a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, yesterday decried calls for the secretary’s resignation from other retired officers.
“I think what we see happening with retired general officers is bad for the military, bad for civil-military relations and bad for the country,” retired Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

Idiot Andy (or dead-on wanker),
Okay, let’s try something called a “percentage.” You probably won’t understand the concept, but let’s give it a go.
American cities: 1,500 out of 14,000,000 is 1/100 of 1 percent or 1 out of every 10,000 people who are mudered.
Americans in Iraq: 850 out of 140,000 is 6/10 of 1 percent or 1 out of every 165 soldiers killed.
Let’s review. In America, 1 out of 10,000 murdered. In Iraq, 1 out of 165 killed in action. You are an idiot.
If you notice, none of your Republitard brethren are coming to your defense because they realize how stupid your argument is. You will argue any conservative point regardless of how utterly nonsensical it is. It’s a wonder Bush hasn’t pinned a medal on your dumbas$ yet.

Ernie Chambers is Nebraska’s only African-American state senator…..[the] driving force behind a measure passed by the Legislature on Thursday and signed into law by the governor that calls for dividing the Omaha public schools into three racially identifiable districts, one largely black, one white and one mostly Hispanic. The law, which opponents are calling state-sponsored segregation, has thrown Nebraska into an uproar, prompting fierce debate about the value of integration versus what Mr. Chambers calls a desire by blacks to control a school district in which their children are a majority.
Segregation? Why? Why? We are moving backwards people….backwards.

Considering the fact that most of these American cities are run by Democrats, and have been for years, the cities should be little crime-free socialist oases.

DAN: I thank you as well. On both topics, I couldn’t agree more.
I was born into hi upper-class Republicanism. The word “Democrat” was lower than low. As a young adult I spent several years of activity in big-city Repub dinners, meetings, functions. I witnessed people I’d known since childhood, gone to school with, interacted socially with, checking their everyday masks at the door - enjoying an evening of vicious and obsessive hatred, bitterness, envy, God knows what else, against anything/anyone NOT Republican. I quickly pruned those ugly bastards out of my life and probably became their worst enemy - as I knew them so damned well.
The experience made me teach my own kids to always keep an open mind and to read, study, analyze matters of importance. To NEVER join in with a political dogma of any kind. To never say, “Well, how should I vote on this issue? Let’s see what The Party says I should do.” To always form their OWN opinions based on the intelligence and methodology with which they have been provided. Today they are well-adjusted, content, positive, contributing citizens of this country, with strong, ever-learning opinions and the ability to back them up. No hatred and chronic negativity in their lives, resultant of such as that which the Repub Party - and other organizations - has/have evolved into. Their lives are full and successful. A result of a proper learning process. Nite.

183+ Posts and not one regarding the content of this toon. Is it that obtuse for everyone? New York Post Page Six is well known for it’s dirt dealing exposes. This toon lampoons the Post’s recent scandal where frequent Page Six contributor Jared Paul Stern is reputed to have tried to blackmail supermarket billionaire Ron Burkle for $100,000 plus a $10,000-a-month stipend in exchange for going easy on him in Page Six. Does anyone on this blog read anymore or is this now the “I just look at the pictures” crowd?
I think the problem is much more onerous, though. The entire country is so politically fragmented and divisive that anything without a party spin is not worthy of consideration. In digression, I have to wonder what is the cause. I am not exactly a young man but I have never seen a time where the citizenry and political parties have been so polarized.
Maybe if people actually did a little reading and kept themselves aware of current issues, there would be more productive discourse in our society as well as in the political arena!

Grammar police! Grammar police! Hide! Duck! Omigawd the punctuation and pronoun commandos are loose! We’re doomed! Doomed, doomed as doomed can be!!!
BD, I couldn’t resist either, so here’s another Churchill quote, even better than the one I posted in democracy:
“Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.”
A happy and glorious Easter to all.

Some 200 Iranians have volunteered in the past few days to carry out “martyrdom missions” against U.S. and British interests around the world if Iran is attacked, a hard-line group said Sunday.
Well at least they are not focused solely on the US, so that’s basically 100 martyrs divided equally per country, right?

*By Liberals Suck And Lie April 16, 2006 06:31 AM | Link to this …God loves you whether you are a lib or a Con, (note the little l and the capital C - right out of racist books from the sixties where they used a little b for blacks and a capital W for whites) whether you are right or wrong (interesting choice of words), whether you like George Bush or you hate George Bush. (also note the use of like and hate, rather than like and dislike) None of that matters on this Blessed Day Of Forgiveness. He gave His Only Son because we are not perfect, we are not free of sin.
The only thing we have in common is that we are all God’s Children. Give Praise to Him on this Day of Salvation, for His Gift of Eternal Love for You.*
This is a near perfect example as to why so many reasonable people are uber suspicious of the far-right religious segment of our society. This man is unquestionably the most foul-mouthed, hate-filled, arrogant and intimidating guy in this entire site. Many among us have deliberately said stupid things to p!ss others off, and that is not an excuse. But he is definitely in a category of an exceptional few. His posts are more often than not punctuated with the most vicious personal verbal attacks he can come up with. This is a fact, it is not debatable. And, worse yet, he creates an environment where there are quite a few others more than willing to join in with sophmoric “counter-attacks”. THIS ISN”T A WAR PEOPLE!!!
I fully expect after this “holy” day, Brother Andy to renew with fervor the constant debasement of others who dare have differing opinions and speak them out loud, the needless and hateful name calling, and his angry at the universe spiel. An act? Maybe. But it shouldn’t be condoned. It’s a shame too, because he really does have some interesting and relevant stuff to say.
Of course, typically his “posse comitatus” of three or four will be right there to rush to his defense and try to help gloss things over. (For example: “I don’t find Andy particularly obnoxious”, which is an incredible but true post from a few days ago!) And I absolutely expect a few to make the usual comments or flame me now, with yet more baseless personal attacks, until He returns to finish the job. Without, of course, any discussion or reasoned response to the topic (much less looking for common ground). I.E. Anger management and being a pious fraud.
You want forgiveness, Andy? Just look around at some of your fellow human beings and ask for it. It’s called humility. All of us can use a little (or a lot) more…

The Dutch, immigration, religion, cartoons and much more. A world problem.
Eventually this problem will make it’s way over to the US like all problems do and I wonder how we will react to it (I’m talking about a wave of immigrants of Islamic faith, not 9/11). The Dutch applied multi-culturalism completely and it did not work. Spain tried to preserve it’s identity at all cost but that was under a military dictatorship, And it’s just in as bad a shape as any other European country. The UK has tried a mix of both extremes and nothing.
How do you stir in a religion like Islam into the US melting Pot? Do we give it a state like with the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and then just kind of ignore it? or do we hope to keep it in small numbers in their own little cities like the Amish?
How to deal with a problem with roots going back to the bible, Isaac and Ishmael, that no one throughout history has been able to solve?

As to the acceptance of immigrants of any religion, our best hope is to teach and follow the law with confidence.I am not trying to tie in illegal Latinos here but I do think the law must be followed.
You mentioned Mormans and Amish. I don’t believe they are breaking any laws. Not any more. No polygamy. As far as I know they are good citizens.
American Muslims were not in the news until 9/11. All Muslims are NOT terrorists and all terrorists are NOT Muslims. Do I need to mention Oklahoma City?
You see, I still believe in democracy and equality under the law. Europe IS having many problems. I cannot draw concrete conclusions there. But Isaac and Ishmael? Abraham was their father and had great faith. Perhaps that is what we need to bolster our own system.

BD- I agree multi-culturalism has many problems, in the Netherlands however they went to extremes trying to make it work. Giving Catholics, Protestants and Muslims their own everything, basically segregating each group from each other in order to keep their religious cultures intact. While not allowing them nor teaching the newest immigrant (who the government had imported as labor) to be ‘Dutch’. I understand when you say we are not “obligation as a country to let in hordes of people whose culture shares nothing in common with ours” but in my opinion I don’t believe that honors the principles which created this country, specially if it’s based on just being a Muslim.
Dusty- I brought up Ishmael and Isaac, because if you believe in the Bible, Torah or Koran. The brothers are the beginning of the divide between Jews and Arabs or Muslims and Christians (crusades) they are where it all started. So I was just trying to point out how far back the issue goes with no solution created
You are right terrorist and Muslims are different things, and I did not mean to suggest they were, just that faith and religion are problematic topics for a country to deal with (Catholics and Protestants in Ireland are an example). American Muslims are still a relatively small minority, but as their numbers increase (naturally or through immigration) we as a nation could be faced with the same problems that Europe is facing right now. Currently between ‘regular’ Americans there’s a political and cultural divide that is focused on values specially those derived from religion (and that’s between people of basically the same faith but varying degrees). Personally I think the saving grace here in the US will be the fact that we have not marginalized Muslims economically or religiously, as Europe has done. And that will help interweave them into the fabric of America.
I brought up the Amish and Mormons, because of their culture and faith and their peculiar path to assimilation.

Here we have a real problem but have you ever heard a lib speak out against this “religion?” You won’t because libs are chickensh-its.
But this raises an interesting point. In other religions, spiritual leaders recognize they must practice what they preach, i.e., they must observe and, by personal example, lead the same kind of life they encourage their flock to lead, or else be held accountable by their followers for failing to do so. However, this point seems lost on these extremist imams and their followers. In an attitude more reflective of “do as I say and not as I do,” not a single imam extremist has yet to strap on a suicide belt to sacrifice his own life in furtherance of the cause of Islam. Nor is there any report of an imam’s offspring doing so. While relentlessly preaching selfless acts of suicide by their fold, these same imams selfishly fail to practice what they preach — an absence of accountability their followers have failed yet to grasp and question.
By Liberals Suck And Lie
April 16, 2006 04:55 PM | Link to this
And, ironically, what helps make suicide bombings effective is the press coverage they attract. The mainstream media do not depict even the most vicious attacks on civilians as atrocities that should inspire outrage and fortify resistance. Instead, the media suggest the attacks be seen as evidence the “insurgents” are succeeding and the U.S. failing in its obligation to “stabilize the security situation.”
The terrorists “play our own media with a shrewdness that would be the envy of many a political party,” British Prime Minister Tony Blair said recently. “Every act [of] carnage adds to the death toll. But somehow it serves to indicate our responsibility for disorder, rather than the act of wickedness that causes it.”

Some Sunday Steyn:
It’s not the world’s job to prove that the Iranians are bluffing. The braggadocio itself is reason enough to act, and prolonged negotiations with a regime that openly admits it’s negotiating just for the laughs only damages us further. The perfect summation of the Iranian approach to negotiations came in this gem of a sentence from the New York Times on July 13 last year:
“Iran will resume uranium enrichment if the European Union does not recognize its right to do so, two Iranian nuclear negotiators said in an interview published Thursday.”
Got that? If we don’t let Iran go nuclear, they’ll go nuclear. That position might tax even the nuanced detecting skills of John Kerry.

From the Ny Times no less:
AS the No. 2 general at United States Central Command from the Sept. 11 attacks through the Iraq war, I was the daily “answer man” to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. I briefed him twice a day; few people had as much interaction with him as I did during those two years. In light of the recent calls for his resignation by several retired generals, I would like to set the record straight on what he was really like to work with.
Mr. Rumsfeld does not give in easily in disagreements, either, and he will always force you to argue your point thoroughly. This can be tough for some people to deal with. I witnessed many heated but professional conversations between my immediate commander, Gen. Tommy Franks, and Mr. Rumsfeld — but the secretary always deferred to the general on war-fighting issues.
Thus, for distinguished officers to step forward and, in retrospect, pin blame on one person is wrong. And when they do so in a time of war, the rest of the world watches.
Like I said just recently, time is on the side of the Conservative. No matter how many lies or false accusations the libs throw around, they always get outed by the truth. Always.

BD: It means the good fortune of lotsa money and formal social status, and the finest schools. Wonderful luck. All things about which you would have absolutely no knowledge. Thankfully, my education began where yours leaves off. And it shows every time you open your mindless, filthy, slovenly little mouth. You’re a typical punk. Be gone like the insect that you are. You are one of the lowest forms on this strange blog. A true inferior. I think most everyone knows that. I don’t read your useless, hate-filled offerings. I wonder how much the White House paid him to keep silent about the Bush Twins.

Starts out good. Opinions are like a-ssholes, everybody has one.
But then, alas… This huge goofball is a pretentious little son of a bi-tch. Nice. I’m proud that he’s able to elect himself the morality judge of this blog and lord over the behaviour of all the other participants. It’s just like a busy body liberal, minding everybody’s business but their own. Seems more liberal to just stand by and allow hatred to fester…
If you want to talk about rude, what do you call being focused on your wee wee as the center of your existence and shoving your little fixation down the throats of the rest of the world (no one has ever accussed this guy of being brilliant) whether we want to know about it or not? What gives you the right to destroy society and culture (huh?) claiming special rights for the way you choose to get your rocks off? (again, huh?)
…Don’t I have the right to act however I want to, Mr. Free For All? You do indeed and I have the right/obligation to point out that your hate speech is not acceptable. You know, again, that old silence being acceptance, thing.
But it just keeps getting better and better. (The lowercase spelling is a lack of respect, that’s why pinko is spelled that way. And no, I do not hate Blacks, you race baiting piece of sh-it.)
Nice try, charlie but Starkist wants only the freshest tuna. Your using the small and capital case words as you do reflects your mirroring of the technique not the content of that publication. More discerning minds would not stumble over this subtle but important distinction.
And this, of course, is the grand finale:
getalife: Liberalism is a sin, an affront to humanity, a disgusting feelgood past time that could wind up costing us the United States of America. Of course, liberals are the enemy.
He really speaks dangerously like a modern day mini-Hitler. And this, I swear, will never be allowed to stand without challenge.
And only one of the gang stepped up to take a bullet for their hero. But unfortunately he/she is reduced to children’s rhymes and names and this: You do not have the “right” to effect change - although you are welcome to try your damndest. Clearly, you have already given up something extremely valuable. I never will. Come and join me.

Normal people (<——Andy), however, understand that the “precautionary principle,” often invoked by enviros as a reason to act before all the evidence is in, also requires us to take into account the distinct possibility that government will get things wrong. They may also remember the predictions of prominent scientists in the late 1960s that population growth would lead to mass starvation by the 1980s, or Hollywood’s pornographic delight in the horrors of “nuclear winter” if Ronald Reagan didn’t cave in to massive protests, fanned by Moscow, demanding unilateral disarmament in the 1980s.
Oh yes, and then there was the famous Newsweek cover story in 1975 asserting that meteorologists “are almost unanimous” that the earth was headed towards a new ice age. The reaction of the environmental pessimists, along with the doomsters in the media, has not been to rethink their position but to redouble their scare tactics.

Replace Rumsfeld
*David Ignatius - Washington Post - 4/16/06
“When I recently asked an Army officer with extensive Iraq combat experience how many of his colleagues wanted Rumsfeld out, he guessed 75 percent. Based on my own conversations with senior officers over the past three years, I suspect that figure may be low.
“But that isn’t the reason he should be replaced.”
(and now for the money quote)
“As bad as things are in Baghdad, America won’t be defeated there militarily. But it may be forced into a hasty and chaotic retreat by mounting domestic opposition to its policy. Much of the American public has simply stopped believing the administration’s arguments about Iraq, and Rumsfeld is a symbol of that credibility gap. He is a spent force, reduced to squabbling with the secretary of state about whether “tactical errors” were made in the war’s conduct.”
Ignatius has serious chops, by the way. He covered the CIA and the mideast for the Wall Street Journal before heading to the Washington Post in 1986. Dismiss him at your peril.
And before the usual suspects resume flaming me for being some pinko peacenut, I’ll say again that while I’ve always had serious doubts about Iraq, the US is there, and cannot leave until the job is finished. So there.
Fire away!

I’ve always had the pleasure of knowing some of those who were “born to the manor.” Have known many born into poverty thru race or circumstance and have had little chance in life. Another good story about part D medicare, even after the pinkos wrote it off as a failure:
* For months, stories about Mr. Bush’s Medicare prescription drug program were uniformly negative: Seniors found the sign-up process too confusing, few were applying for the program, and the cost savings, if any, were minimal at best.*
But now the story is that scores have signed up, 29 million at last count, and a large percentage of seniors say they are saving a great deal on the drugs they purchase through the discount program

The Wall Street Journal has been getting alot of airtime here lately, mostly about Republican political “problems,” let’s see how much of a respected source they are this morning:
So when did Generals cease to be responsible for outcomes in war? We ask that question amid the latest calls by certain retired senior military officers for Donald Rumsfeld to resign over U.S. difficulties in Iraq.
The anti-Rumsfeld generals have a right to their opinion. But there’s a reason the Founders provided for civilian control of the military, and a danger in military men using their presumed authority to push elected Administrations around. As for Democrats and their media allies, we can only admire their sudden new deference to the senior U.S. officer corps, which follows their strange new respect for the “intelligence community” they also once despised. U.S. military recruiters might not be welcome on Ivy League campuses, but they’re heroes when they trash the Bush Administration.

All that pinko hot air about winning back the House, about the “culture of corruption, blah, blah, blah, here’s the first election out of the gate:
Polls are not good predictors of turnout - only elections are. Last week, we had a special election in the 50th district of California, whose Republican congressman resigned in disgrace and went to prison. In 2004, the 50th district voted 55 percent for George W. Bush and 44 percent for John Kerry. Last week, the district voted 53 percent for Republicans (there were 14 candidates, the winner among whom goes on to a June 6 runoff) and 45 percent for Democrats. There were only two of them, and the leader, Francine Busby, got 44 percent of the vote - the same percentage as Kerry. That may be 1 percent higher when the last absentees are counted.

When I say “love” and this may confuse you pinkos, I’m talking about nurturing, guiding and teaching about life, not molesting them or seeing them as a pain in the a-ss, like liberals automatically do, the very first thing they think of.
I know that liberals can do the sickest things imaginable, like stick their reproductive organ into another man’s digestive tract and then think they are better than anybody else because of it. So increasingly Democratic officeholders and candidates are trying to bring the bloggers inside, to make them feel included — and to blunt their criticisms. For example, in recent months the blogs have been quite angry at House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, feeling that she has been ineffective at fighting back against Republicans and fearful that she will support the regulation of political speech on the Internet. In March, the DailyKos held a poll of its readers asking whether they approved of the job that Pelosi, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, and Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean were doing. The readers loved Dean; 84 percent approved of his performance. They were so-so on Reid, who scored a 50 percent approval rate. Key senator bucks Bush, urges US-Iran talks
Breaking with President George W. Bush’s insistence on a multilateral approach through the U.N. Security Council, Sen. Richard Lugar (R, Indiana) said direct U.S. talks with Iran would be useful as part of a broad dialogue on energy.

E-Mail Said to Link Abramoff, Safavian
The e-mails show that Abramoff and Safavian, then chief of staff at the General Services Administration, were in frequent contact, played golf often and traded workplace gossip. Abramoff showered Safavian with offers of meals, invitations to parties as well as the trip to the fabled St. Andrew’s golf course in Scotland.
Naw, Abramhoff had ties into the Bush administration? Geez, who woulda guessed?

One of the more idiotic arguments in favor of open borders is that, due to the declining birthrate of our selfish society, we need millions upon millions of impoverished foreigners to rush in to support our bleating aging baby boomers in their extended and lethargic retirements.
The only correct thing about this argument is that it recognizes that Social Security is simply a pyramid scam, always in need of increasing numbers of young new victims to tax in order to support the old (and the “disabled”) at a level far beyond their average contributions.

As you no doubt know, illegal aliens and their handlers plan to hold their next Senate intimidation rallies on May 1, better known as the Marxist holiday of “May Day.” The May Day campaign will consist of yet more anti-law-enforcement marches and a nationwide “boycott” of shopping. The aim of the boycott is to demonstrate the purchasing power of the 11 million immigration criminals demanding amnesty. The boycott will also include a general strike by immigration criminals, who are being encouraged to skip work that day. Now it appears that illegal aliens are here to just skip the jobs that no American is willing to skip.
If the boycott and strike are successful, this means that May 1 will be A DAY WITHOUT ILLEGAL ALIENS! Lines will be shorter. Clerks will all speak English. Businesses that have been honest enough to hire legal residents will be poised to finally enjoy a competitive advantage! It will be morning again in America. Every actual American should make a point to get out and support those businesses and counteract the criminal boycott movement.

Scalia Stands by Decision in Cheney Case
Conservative U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Wednesday called his 2004 decision not to recuse himself from a case involving Vice President Dick Cheney the “proudest thing” he’s done on the court.
Scalia refused to step aside from deliberations in the case, rejecting arguments by critics who said his impartiality was brought into question because of a hunting vacation that he took with Cheney while the court was considering the vice president’s appeal.
In the world of Republican values, taking a hunting trip with the participant in a case you are sitting in judgement on is NOT a conflict of interest. Ah, those Republican values, you gotta love their consistency!

sct,
I have not heard your question numerous times.
There were no protest marches against the Yugoslavia War led by Republican leadership. Did I miss something that seems to be lost in history?
I didn’t mention treason but obviously you thought of it when you try to combine hate for the commander-in-chief with claims of support for American troops in Iraq. Most people do not think that combination is possible since it encourages the enemy.
We have not abolished free speech. I was referring to Jane Fonda and Cindy Sheehan, both liberals who abuse free speech during war time.
I used the word “abused”. But here is what my dictionary calls treason:the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the GOVERNMENT of the state to which the offender owes allegiance.
Answer your own question, sct, so you can stop diggin up the past and observe the present.

Its either free speech or not. We either have the right to protest or we don’t. Why do you hate American values such as these so much?
Do you think that only politicians have the right to criticize the government? Why was Delay allowed to protest a war but not Sheehan?

Jury Finds Former Ill. Gov. Ryan Guilty of Racketeering and Fraud
George Ryan (Republican Governor, Illinois)
Ryan’s term in office was marked by a scandal involving the illegal sale of government licenses, contracts and leases by state employees during his prior service as Secretary of State; in the wake of numerous convictions of former aides, he chose not to run for reelection in 2002. In December 2003 he was indicted on 18 federal racketeering, fraud and conspiracy charges. His trial got underway in September 2005. The scandals are widely believed to have hurt the chances for Republicans to hold the governorship; Attorney General Jim Ryan (no relation) lost to Rod Blagojevich in the 2002 election, ending 25 years of Republican governorships.

LOL…suck quickly discredits this long time republican as a pinko now that he’s a felon. Over at expose the Left, they are discrediting Newt as a liberal too.
Funny how loyal republicans are, must be those family values installed at an early age. Love thy Republican, until he does something embarrassing, show support but once he gets called out on his stupidity, then stop pandering and donating to him and pass him off as a pinko. It’s hard to take these neocons seriously sometimes. Not only do they cherry pick passages in the bible to pass of as social policy, but also cherry pick who they support depending on the indictments.

John McCain calls himself a Conservative. !!??!! Get it?
No? A Republican would not pardon any death row inmates. He would let God do that.

Ok so a Republican is: Easy on Business, enjoys large gov’t and a huge deficit, is pro illegal immigration, anti-gays, war conscious, in Kanye’s words “hates black people”, bad on education, against campaign finance reform (McCain is pro), loves his bible, loves Mexico, is loyal (well unless there’s an indictment) and follows his gut. What else am I missing for Bush? People help me out!
Or is this a changing definition depending on who is embarrassing your party?

Hillary Clinton is a moderate.
Mike “cartoon boy” Luckovich is a centrist.
Dana Priest deserves a “prize” and not a pile of rocks at Leavenworth.
That “republicans” pardon death row inmates.
That the democrats will win back Congress in 2006, HaHahaHaHaHaHahHahhahahhahha.

Enron, Global Crossing, Healthsouth, etc…all thrived on their ability to operate with impunity while a Democrat occupied the White House. They bilked their customers, screwed their employees, and ruined their stockholders portfolios.
Then an “easy on business” Republican takes office and their little house of cards comes crashing down and they have traded the boardroom for a courtroom.

I don’t know how many times I have watched the liberals do a complete turn-about on a Republican when he starts saying what they want to hear or what serves their purpose. Remember Brownie? And now Newt, please.
Brownie, according to the liberals was an incompetent boob until he started blaming the administration for the Katrina fiasco. Newt was a womanizing a-sshole until he began talking about Iraq in the negative.
I’m sure there are others, they aren’t coming to mind right now. I’m too busy laughing at all the drooling over ml and his recent win on the next thread.

So what’s your point? I’ve said it before; Clinton was the perfect Rep -keeping with their original values of small gov’t, low deficit, easy on business-, that’s why you guys hate him so much. He was better at being a Rep than you guys are. Except for the blow job part that was very Dem. Monica Lewinsky, on the other hand was very Rep looking.

Danish. I’ll answer for Jean lest she not view this crap. You are a piece of s—t. Real proud of it too. Wrong author, wrong book, you complete imbecile. It has everything to do with mansions, large houses, manor houses, and those who lived/still live within them, plus the very essence of their lives and styles. You’re too grossly ignorant to learn these things, and I shan’t direct or help you. You ARE a living pigstye. No - hold that - pigs have strong morals and ethics within their society. You are less than 6th grade material, punk. I’d shove your very own fist up your rectum. “Bet”?? What would a lifetime loser like you have to bet?? “Show (your) hand”??? You HAVE no hand. You’re a coward, a boor, a bitter buffoon without a job or a life. You’re of no further interest to me - if I wanted your “hand,” within 20 minutes I’d have, you, your location, your entire dishonorable family and its background. Like they say, “Stay in your proper place.” And the “MANOR” is assuredly not it. Your type has never even been permitted to pick up the “droppings” within the manor. You are an insult to the white race, whitetrash. You little people need to learn to talk strictly…among yourselves. I’m all for segregating the white race - from the lower portion of the white race wherein we find such as you. We had that not long ago. Eat your heart out, hillbilly. You’re NEVER going anywhere other than your current stench. You can’t outrun that.

For all those who really want to know how the Medicare drug plan is going, here is an analysis of progress to date from the New England Journal of Medicine. It is time to stop reading administration press releases look at the facts. As always, the Bush administration shows itself to be living in an alternative universe that has no basis in reality.

As with every government program people that don’t deserve are grabbing what they can and it is harming those “entitled” to part D:
Under the law establishing the drug benefit, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services can call for extending open enrollment into Medicare Part D by declaring a “special enrollment period” for exceptional circumstances.
In early April, HHS said people who qualify for the low-income subsidy meet that exceptional circumstance, and they will be allowed to enroll in plans after the May 15 deadline. Those seniors must have an income below 150 percent of the poverty line and have limited assets.
The exception, Norwalk estimates, could affect about 2 million people. But to grant that exception to all 43 million eligible Medicare beneficiaries “undermines what Congress put into place.”
And also, as always, libs whine and b*** at the first sign of discomfort, lying like rugs. Real upstanding citizens you pinkos are.

Suck,
The New England Journal article is written by and for doctors who are concerned about their patients. It is all well and good to talk about how many people have been helped, but there is a lot of concern about the ones who fell between the cracks. Read the article before you condemn it as the whinings of liberals. I don’t think that doctors are a particularly liberal group. Perhaps you want to add them to your hate list anyway?

In the latter years of the 19th century, Joseph Pulitzer stood out as the very embodiment of American journalism. Hungarian-born, an intense indomitable figure, Pulitzer was the most skillful of newspaper publishers, a passionate crusader against dishonest government…

Domestic policy can only defeat us; foreign policy can kill us.
Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.

Love him or hate him, Olbermann is one funny hombre.
During a recent broadcast, Keith Olbermann declared nationally syndicated radio host Neal Boortz the winner of the day’s “Worst Person in the World” honor for saying, as Media Matters for America noted, that Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) “looks like a ghetto slut,” following a March 29 incident in which McKinney allegedly struck a police officer at a Capitol Hill security checkpoint. Boortz also said that McKinney looks “like an explosion at a Brillo pad factory,” “like Tina Turner peeing on an electric fence,” and “like a shih tzu.” Noting that Boortz claimed on his website to be entitled to his criticism of McKinney’s hairstyle because of the “years of ‘bald remarks’” he has endured, Olbermann responded, “OK, endure this one: You’re a bald racist.”
