Hi. Tom Delay here. I monitor political blogs from the main newpapers in major cities, especially here in the south, and Atlanta is an important one. My aides made me aware of some very supportive posts over the last few days. I just wanted to say thank you to all those conservatives out there who expressed jubilation over my recent primary win in the great state of Texas. Our team is going strong! We were relieved to see that my constituents, along with you good folks, were not blinded by the dubious political tactics that Democrats have chosen to attack me with. It is good to know there are solid conservatives out there who can look past an indictment and bribery charges. It is not the fact that we in congress sell our votes; what is important is who we sell our votes to. I know, you know it, and the president knows it. If we can use our auctioned influence to assist defense contractors and large energy companies, it helps all Americans. A tax break for Exxon is a tax break for the people. If gas prices and the cost of heating homes rise to unexpected levels, then that is the sacrifice that Americans must make for the freedom we are fighting for in Iraq. So thank you. Thank you for looking past felonious conduct that borders on treason. Thank you for continuing to believe that Jack Abrahmoff is a stranger to both myself and the president. You are the strength of the Republican party. I am proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself.

Both parties should be stuffed and hung on a wall, as they both are now ‘crats, looking to expand the role of the federal gubment.
Libertarian vote for 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. Maybe that will show them we don’t want any more power consolidated with the federal gubment. Power corrupts and we have given them too much.
Some in those blog want to give them even more and that is scary!
Consequences are the best learning tool and politicians work to reduce the consequences, thereby reducing the motivation to learn.
I will leave the blog to the spring breakers now and any following post are not mine.
Peace to the gods!

Great cartoon. The Republicans have killed themselves (OK, that’s a small problem: would a suicide-victim elephant have it’s head mounted on the wall?) and the Democrats are so super-cautious they are immobilized.
Of course the error is in thinking about politics from the point of view of the two major parties. think about it from the point of view of the people and it’s easy to campaign and get support. What the heck, add in the Constitution and campaign on that as well.

So Dubai pulled out, huh? Does anyone out there really think that they did that on their own? Of course the Bush League administration realized that congress was going to shove it in their face, lead by the Republicans. It would have created a huge chasm in the party. GW wouldn’t back down because he’ll never admit to any mistakes, no matter how many monumentous ones pile up. GOP congressmen weren’t going to back down because they already know many of them are going to lose their jobs come November, and they’re scared shiiteless. The opposition was so overwhelming with both parties gearing up to override Bush League’s first ever veto that someone in the administration gave the wink-wink to Dubai Ports to pull out in order to save Dubya some embarrassment. Too late. He’s got a 34% approval rating and now his defeat is plastered all over the airwaves with titles such as “Is Bush already a lame duck president with two years to go?” Pundits are saying he can’t recover from this one after Iraq, and Katrina, and Abrahmoff, and the CIA leak, etc, etc. He is completely isolated now- first the world abandoned him, then our citizens abandoned him, now congress is abandoning him, and the military is in the process of it. It’s over. He is a Democrat’s best friend, as sick as that may sound.

The White House has done next to nothing to prevent Republican lawmakers and right wing radio flamethrowers from piling on with the “all ay-rabs want to kill us” mantra since 9/11.
And then Bush is surprised when the Dubai deal sinks? Knock knock! Anybody home??
It’s more evidence of the overall lack of leadership by Bush that now disgusts conservatives like WorldNetDaily’s Joseph Fara:

DAVID. I don’t spend much time here - just enough to scan anyone new or intelligent. It’s unusual that I would even see your little retort. In answer to your question, I don’t have any need to “feel better” about much of anything. I’ve been rather successful in achieving perfection in life. Not easy - but possible. I deal in truths and reality, as that is what a fascinating life has taught me. Perhaps one fine day you shall grow up sufficiently enough to comprehend that. Remember: Truth. Reality. If you properly employ both, you can never lose. Have a nice day. Try to grow a bit each and every day. You might just like it.

Achiving perfection in the absence of basic humanity is a twisted view of perfection

March 9, 2006, 11:38PM DeLay team touts Abramoff interview Congressman’s lawyers say Vanity Fair article backs assertion he did no illegal favors
By MICHAEL HEDGES Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle Washington Bureau
WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom DeLay’s legal team on Thursday embraced an interview by lobbyist Jack Abramoff, saying it supported the lawmaker’s position that he did no illegal favors in return for gifts and contributions.
In the interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Abramoff downplayed speculation that he had asked DeLay for special treatment for his clients or that he had received any from the Sugar Land Republican.
“I didn’t spend a lot of time lobbying Tom for things, because the things I worked on were usually consistent with the conservative philosophy, and I knew Tom would be supportive,” Abramoff said.
Richard Cullen, DeLay’s attorney for the Abramoff investigation, said, “I think Tom DeLay would feel that is a very accurate description of events. It is certainly accurate that Tom DeLay’s votes in Congress were based on his political beliefs, which is what he has been saying for many months.”

March 8, 2006, 10:56PM Primary win is boost for DeLay But experts say legal challenges may dog his drive toward November general election
By SAMANTHA LEVINE Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle
U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay got a bounce from his win over three challengers in the Republican primary, but legal challenges over the next several months will require him to work hard to maintain his momentum through to the November general election, political experts said Wednesday.
The Sugar Land incumbent took 62 percent of the vote Tuesday for his party’s nomination in the 22nd Congressional District. His closest opponent was lawyer Tom Campbell, who tallied about 30 percent in his first run for public office.

Hypocrites on the left TODAY’S COLUMNIST By Michael K. Fauntroy March 10, 2006

Way to go, you stupid POS liberal racists, jackboot klansman, keeping up the tradition of Robert Byrd.
Meanwhile, they’re seething in Dubai, and whispering about retaliation. “[Members of the UAE royal family are] saying, ‘All we’ve done for you guys, all our purchases, we’ll stop it, we’ll just yank it,’” a source told The Hill yesterday:
Retaliation from the emirate could come against lucrative deals with aircraft maker Boeing and by curtailing the docking of hundreds of American ships, including U.S. Navy ships, each year at its port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the source added.
We must hope the UAE doesn’t follow through with such retaliation, particularly the bit about banishing our Navy. But it’s clear that while approving the deal in the first place may have been a mistake, killing it at this stage may be even worse. Plenty of people in Washington should be ashamed.

Going well beyond Dubai, House Armed Services Chairman Duncan Hunter (R., Calif.) says he wants Congressional oversight of all foreign purchases of “critical infrastructure.” Mull over that one for a minute. If you think corruption on Capitol Hill is bad now, wait until foreigners need approval from Congress for every multi-billion-dollar investment. The current investment review process was designed by the Reagan Administration to be discreet, and to keep Congress out, precisely to avoid such politicization.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), who is chairman of the House Republican Study Committee, and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), who chairs the RSC’s Budget and Spending Taskforce. They announced on Wednesday their intention to introduce a balanced budget consistent with promises made in the 1994 Contract with America, which helped Republicans gain a House majority for the first time in four decades.
They estimate it would save $350 billion on Medicare, Medicaid and other skyrocketing social programs. Another $300 billion in savings would come from a complete restructuring of the departments of Education, Commerce and Energy. The ultimate restructuring would be to get rid of all three of them, especially Education and Energy, but since that is unlikely to happen, a restructuring that reduces unnecessary personnel and eliminates waste, fraud and abuse would at least show that Republicans are returning to their ideological roots of smaller government, less spending and lower taxes.
Man, when Conservatives talk reform it makes my heart go all aflutter, let’s rid ourselves of the dept. of education, these stupid POS liberals want to reduce deficits, let’s do it.

CBS Slants Bush Poll in Favor of Democrats Posted by Greg Sheffield on February 28, 2006 - 08:57.
In its classic “fair and balanced” tradition, CBS slanted in favor of Democrats its poll that found Bush has a 34 percent approval rating and a 59 percent disapproval rating, an all-time high for a CBS poll.
On the bottom of the PDF version of the poll (page 18) it says how many Democrats versus Republicans were contacted.
“Total Republicans” contacted: 272 unweighted and 289 weighted.
“Total Democrats” contacted: 409 unweighted and 381 weighted.

CNN/USA Today/Gallup Delivers Another Distorted Filibuster Poll
Another distorted poll on the use of the filibuster by Senate Democrats to block judicial nominees. A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Monday afternoon described how the filibuster tactic can be “used to prevent the Senate from passing controversial legislation or confirming controversial appointments by the President, even if a majority of Senators support that action.” But then instead of posing the question at hand, whether the public agrees with the unprecedented Democratic use of the filibuster to deny votes to appeals court nominees, the poll posed a broader question not at hand: “Do you favor or oppose the use of the filibuster in the U.S. Senate?” Most, naturally, favored it as CNN’s Bruce Morton relayed in a Monday Inside Politics story, as if eliminating the filibuster was an issue in play.

I DID NOT refer to the CBS poll. Look again (and try to think this time), my first post is to an AP article and refers to an AP/IPSOS poll. My second post, as does my third, links to a series of polls, including FOX.
The common thread among all of these polls is that Bush is pitiful.

Especially troubling are those who even before 9/11 demanded that President Clinton or Bush remove Saddam Hussein, but now consider such a move an abject blunder of the first order. Their advocacy helped us get in when there were dubious reasons to go, and their vehement criticism may well get us out when there are now better reasons to stay until Iraq is secure.
This would be the stupid POS liberals flopping all around in the wind, watching polls, can’t make up their degenerate faulty minds, like John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and all the other squeamish little sissies.

While we’re on the subject on competence, let’s take a quick look at the ‘axis of evil’ countries - Iran, Iraq and North Korea.
Now, one would think that labeling these three countries in this manner would result in foreign policy designed to mitigate the threat posed by each.
The irony here is that in 2008 (after eight years of Bush Administration incompetence) ALL THREE will be more dangerous than they were in 2000.

Burning Allies — and Ourselves
By David Ignatius Friday, March 10, 2006; Page A19, Washington Post
To appreciate how cockeyed America’s Dubai-phobia is, you have to spend a little time here, as I did this week. The truth is, this is one of the few places in the Arab world where things have been going in the right direction — away from terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism and toward an open, modern economy. That’s why congressional opposition came as such a surprise here. People in the UAE think they’re America’s friends.
While the whole time Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid inch away from an open, modern economy towards terrorism and fundamentalism.

President Bush tried to do the right thing on the Dubai ports deal, but he got rolled by a runaway Congress. The collapse of the deal was a measure of Bush’s political weakness — but even more, of America’s traumatized post-Sept. 11 politics. The ironic fact is that the UAE is precisely the kind of Arab ally the United States needs most now. But that clearly didn’t matter to an election-year Congress, which responded to the Dubai deal with a frenzy of Muslim-bashing disguised as concern about terrorism. And we wonder why the rest of the world doesn’t like us.
Nuff said.

Sorry Andy, the refusal of UAE/Dubai to cooperate with American security requests as regards the transfer of high-speed nuclear triggers and the failure of the administration to uncover this was a MONUMENTAL error. Had this not been the case, the deal would have been great and I supported it before that revelation. I will be much more cautious in any future support, now that I see the quality of the administration’s “security” checks. Reps want to make this a “racial” issue since they have fallen flat on the “security” side. There isn’t enough hot-air in the universe to make this turkey fly!

Part of the problem is ambition and cowardice, which together make a lethal combination. Too many would-be Democratic leaders think that “playing it safe” is the way to go. March 10, 2006 Zogby’s Bogus Poll on U.S. Military in Iraq By Tim Kane
The unforgivable flaw in Zogby’s survey is the biased phrasing of its questions and answers. Two of the most provocative results are based on questions with no middle ground. It’s like a multiple-choice test with no right answers.
For example, the widespread finding that three in four soldiers think the United States should withdraw from Iraq within a year has only one option for troops who think otherwise: stay indefinitely. This infamous question asks, “How long should U.S. troops stay in Iraq?” But the first three answers are not phrased in terms of staying, they are phrased “withdraw…,” “withdraw…” and “withdraw… .” Where are the options for troops who think the United States should stay for “one to two years” or “two to five years”? Zogby omits such nuance. It’s stay or go. Now or never.
Another question asks for a description of “your understanding of the U.S. mission in Iraq.” Two choices describe the mission as clear, and four choices describe it as unclear.
Keep in mind that the men and women in uniform are limited by law from making political statements. If troops are given a chance to express themselves anonymously and fairly, that’s great. They are probably the best barometer of how the mission is going, and how it can be improved. But this Zogby poll isn’t a barometer. It is (a) biased, (b) dishonest, or (c) all of the above.
This is exactly why you see so many stupid POS liberals dragging polls around behind themselves. They can manipulate these things so they get the answers they want. It’s their idea of having ideas. The other guy sucks cause we said so, and we’ll be better cause we said so.
Americans haven’t fallen for that BS in quite some time.

Bush and the Bible: A Letter to George Bush
Dear President Bush,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose and support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. As you said “in the eyes of God marriage is based between a man a woman.” I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination… End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.
Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?
Lev.21:20 states that I may ! not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle- room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

Schumer’s shenanigans TODAY’S EDITORIAL March 10, 2006
As the Dubai ports fiasco unravels, it’s worth examining the performance of key players in the last few weeks’ debate. The senior senator from New York, Charles Schumer, has played a central role. He is the exploiter-in-chief of the Dubai acrimony and merits the first look.
Mr. Schumer has barely missed an opportunity to promote himself. On Wednesday, he hoodwinked fellow senator and Democrat Ron Wyden of Oregon into making Mr. Wyden’s unrelated amendment a carry-on for Mr. Schumer’s Dubai ports grandstanding.
In “the world’s greatest deliberative body,” senators don’t deceive each other. Much less do they maltreat their own party members. But here was Mr. Schumer using Mr. Wyden as a pawn to grab cameras on the same day the House Appropriations Committee voted to block the Dubai deal.
This new supposed convert to national security is an embarrassment. His actions discredit people who see genuine security problems with handing ports-management contracts over to a government-owned company from Dubai.

March 10, 2006, 8:29 a.m. Hillary Clinton, Democrat, Saipan, Sweatshops, Campaign Cash — and Abramoff The New York senator accepts contributions from a tycoon involved in the lobbying scandal.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has accepted campaign contributions from a Saipan garment-industry tycoon, sometimes described as a sweatshop operator, whose ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff have been part of the lobbying scandal investigation. Newly filed Federal Election Commission records show that the businessman, Willie Tan, last year gave $2,000 to Friends of Hillary, one of the senator’s political action committees. Friends of Hillary also accepted $2,000 contributions from Raymond Tan and Siu Lin Tan, family members who are top executives in Willie Tan’s businesses. All three contributions were received on September 30, 2005, according to FEC records. Another family member, Josie Tan, who listed her occupation as homemaker, made a $2,000 contribution received on October 2, 2005.
Three weeks after Mrs. Clinton’s visit, the paper continued, “a Guam Democratic Party official arrived in Washington with more than $250,000 in campaign contributions. Within six months of that, [a group of] Guam businessmen had ponied up more than $132,000 for the Clinton-Gore reelection campaign and $510,000 in ‘soft money’ contributions to the Democratic National Committee, making the island, with its 140,000 residents, the biggest donor to the Democratic Party per capita of any territory in the United States.” Later, the Post continued, “the contributions from Guam were followed…by signs of a significant and controversial change in the Clinton administration’s policy toward the island.”

Question for Chucky Shmucky,
How long are you going to hold this “recognized The Taliban” stuff against the UAE? Didn’t they reform this position immediately after 9/11?

REP. DUNCAN HUNTER (R), CALIFORNIA: “In 2003, Dubai allowed a shipment of 66 high-speed triggers that are ideally suited for nuclear weapon detonations. The United States tried to stop the sale — or the transshipment through the Dubai ports. We asked the UAE not to do it. They said, we are going to do it anyway.
They transferred those triggers to a Pakistani businessman with a close relationship with the Pakistan military. They similarly have allowed shipments of heavy water — that’s the material that you use to ultimately build a nuclear weapon — coming from Russia and China, through Dubai, into India.
The point is — and they have also allowed the precursors to nerve gas to be shipped through Iran. And, thankfully, we stopped that deal, because we found out about it. We made a sting operation and stopped it.
The point is, Dubai cannot be trusted. They are the people who will sell or allow a transshipment of anything to anybody. And those people shouldn’t be in charge of our ports.”

I like finch’s mistaken link better, though, it shows just how far “Good Ol Bob” has gone to the other side:
This scenario represents a gross Democratic gain of 20 seats. If all of these dominoes fall, and Republicans can’t manage to pick up six Democratic seats, then Democrats will have netted 15-plus seats and a majority in the U.S. House for the first time since 1994. This is a possible, but unlikely scenario. We remain skeptical. We also discount Democrats’ talk of taking over seats they almost definitely won’t win, such as Mark Green’s seat in Wisconsin, Steve Chabot’s in Ohio, and Anne Northup’s in Kentucky.
A two to five seat Democratic majority would have the committee subpoena power to make Bush’s life miserable, but it would surely lack the strength to govern in any meaningful way.

Exclusive: Doomsday Scenario Haunts Republicans by Robert Novak Posted Mar 10, 2006
Since everyone—including panicky GOP congressmen—seems to be talking about a “probable” Democratic takeover of the House, we thought it would be appropriate to lay out the precise scenario in which this could happen. What follows is an account of the GOP’s doomsday scenario, which would result in a Democratic majority with 218 to 220 seats (a one to five-seat margin). As the night of November 7 begins, Republicans lose two seats in Connecticut (Rob Simmons and Chris Shays are defeated), two seats in Pennsylvania (Jim Gerlach and Mike Fitzpatrick), and two in southern Indiana (Mike Sodrel and John Hostettler). That makes six. Former Rep. Ken Lucas (D) makes a return to Congress by beating Rep. Geoff Davis (R) in Kentucky, where they also upset Ron Lewis. Democrats unseat Rep. Thelma Drake (R) in Virginia Beach, then beat Charlie Taylor and Robin Hayes in North Carolina. They also knock off Clay Shaw in a very expensive Florida race. That brings the total to twelve. Then Democrats take the open seat in northeast Iowa, (Jim Nussle is running for governor), and defeat Heather Wilson in New Mexico. They beat Tom DeLay in Houston and pick up Mark Kennedy’s seat in Minnesota, get Jim Kolbe’s seat in Arizona, and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s aide, Tess Hafen (D), surprises everyone by beating Rep. Jon Porter (R) in Nevada. A Democrat wins the seat being vacated by Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-Colo.), while Rep. Bob Ney watches his district’s election results from prison as some obscure Democrat gets his seat by default. Bear in mind that if the Supreme Court orders another round of redistricting in Texas later this year, it could change everything. California-22 The late retirement announcement by Rep. Bill Thomas (R-Calif.), the brawny, acerbic Ways and Means chairman, represents the loss of one of the greatest economic minds in the House. It is also a departure of a moderate who could easily be replaced by a conservative. This district voted more or less like the state of Utah, giving President Bush 68 percent in 2004. The likely Republican contenders for the seat are California Assembly Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy—another moderate and a Thomas ally—and State Sen. Roy Ashburn, a Thomas nemesis who blames the congressman for his near-loss in 2004 of the adjacent seat left by retiring Rep. Cal Dooley (D). Ashburn ran a terrific campaign, but Thomas hurt him, he alleges, by urging local Republican leaders to back his rival, Jim Costa (D). Thomas’s retirement, coming as it does amidst a panic by GOP congressmen that they could lose the House this fall, most likely comes down to his committee-chairmanship situation. Term-limited out of his coveted chairmanship, Thomas had sought to become Budget chairman as a reward for his late support of Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) for Majority Leader this year. The only problem is that Thomas has never served on the Budget Committee, and it is without precedent to give a chair to someone who has never served on the committee. Mississippi-2 That the state Democratic Party is suing in federal court to strike down the state’s open primary law is a sign that Rep. Bennie Thompson (D) is very afraid of the challenge posed to him by Chuck Espy (D). Like Cynthia McKinney (Ga.) and Earl Hilliard (Ala.) in 2002, the race-baiting, left-wing Thompson could be bounced from office, with Republican votes. This primary takes place June 6.
Then I will leave from this blog forever, never to post again, giving you your virtual pinko paradise right here on earth.

February 27, 2004, 9:20 a.m. No Boy Scouts The ACLU defends NAMBLA.- Deroy Murdock.
An old friend of mine once said this about the American Civil Liberties Union: “They’re a bunch of whale-saving, criminal-loving pinkos — and thank God for them.”
The Manhattan-based public-interest law firm is defending the North American Man-Boy Love Association in a $200 million civil lawsuit filed by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Curley. The Curleys claim that Charles Jaynes was driven by the literature and website of NAMBLA, an outfit that advocates sex between grown men and little boys, reportedly as young as age 8.
Jaynes did not simply read NAMBLA’s materials and ponder its message. He and Salvatore Sicari actively sought a boy with whom to copulate. They picked 10-year-old Jeffrey Curley of Cambridge, Massachusetts. They lured him into their car as he played outside his home in October 1997. When Curley resisted their sexual advances, they choked him to death with a gasoline-soaked rag. Then they took the boy’s body across state lines to Jayne’s apartment in Manchester, New Hampshire. They molested the cadaver and stuffed it into a cement-filled Rubbermaid container. Finally, they crossed state lines again into Maine, whereupon they tossed Jeffrey Curley’s remains into the Great Works River, from which it was recovered within days. Jaynes and Sicari were convicted of these crimes in 1998, for which they are serving life sentences.

This deserves futher airing out:
However, as Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly noted, there is more at play here than pamphleteering. “According to lawyers familiar with [NAMBLA’s] website,” O’Reilly explained, “it actually posted techniques designed to lure boys into having sex with men and also supplied information on what an adult should do if caught.”
NAMBLA is “not just publishing material that says it’s OK to have sex with children and advocating changing the law,” says Larry Frisoli, a Cambridge attorney who is arguing the Curleys case in federal court. NAMBLA, he says, “is actively training their members how to rape children and get away with it. They distribute child pornography and trade live children among NAMBLA members with the purpose of having sex with them.”
Frisoli cites a NAMBLA publication he calls “The Rape and Escape Manual.” Its actual title is “The Survival Manual: The Man’s Guide to Staying Alive in Man-Boy Sexual Relationships.”
“Its chapters explain how to build relationships with children,” Frisoli tells me. “How to gain the confidence of children’s parents. Where to go to have sex with children so as not to get caught…There is advice, if one gets caught, on when to leave America and how to rip off credit card companies to get cash to finance your flight. It’s pretty detailed.”
“In his diary, Jaynes said he had reservations about having sex with children until he discovered NAMBLA,” Frisoli continues. “It’s in his diary in 1996, around the time he joined NAMBLA, one year before the death of Jeffrey Curley.”
The practical, step-by-step advice Jaynes followed goes far beyond appeals to sway public opinion in favor of pedophilia. Such language aids and abets felonious conduct. If such conspiracy results in homicide, it is reasonable for NAMBLA to face civil liability if not criminal prosecution.
Ohio’s Court of Appeals found NAMBLA complicit in an earlier child-rape case. NAMBLA’s literature, discovered in a defendant’s possession, reflected “preparation and purpose,” according to the Buckeye State’s top bench.
The ACLU has offered material support to those who openly preach pedophilia and arguably encourage kidnapping, rape, and murder. Yet this legal group is energetically hostile to an organization that tries to turn boys into men, with sex alien to the process.

RW,
To be fair, you are correct. But I won’t let LSD’s diversions over a missed link/date detract from the delicious content of the correct one. Novak thinks Bush is poison.
“All the evidence suggests that the Bush Administration now has an all-out rebellion on its hands from the GOP Congress. This is not isolated in any single issue, such as the ports deal, but in fact extends to that and numerous other issues as well. (deficit spending, Katrina) Republican congressmen are tired of being bullied and ignored by a heavy-handed executive, and they are playing hardball with their President. Given his unpopularity, many of them find it useful to distance themselves from Bush anyway.”

The self-anointed defender of the First Amendment is defending NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association, a pedophilia advocacy group, in a lawsuit over its role in the 1997 sexual molestation and murder of 10-year-old Matthew Curley.
Curley was lured from his suburban Boston neighborhood by Charles Jaynes and Salvatore Sicari. When he resisted their sexual advances, they smothered him to death. Then, they raped his dead body and stuffed it into a concrete-filled container, which they dumped into a river

This is not a sign of “civil war:”
The Iraqi Cabinet said Thursday that it hanged 13 insurgents, the first executions of militants since Saddam’s ouster.
The announcement listed the name of only one of those hanged, Shukair Farid, a former policeman in the northern city of Mosul, who allegedly confessed he had worked with Syrian foreign fighters to enlist fellow Iraqis to kill police and civilians.
“The competent authorities have today carried out the death sentences of 13 terrorists,” the Cabinet announcement said.
Farid had “confessed that foreigners recruited him to spread the fear through killings and abductions,” the government said.
A judicial official said the death sentences were handed down in separate trials and were carried out in Baghdad.

NAMBLA and Zarqawi, evil minds think alike:
*Our city was the main base of operations for Abu Mousab Al Zarqawi. The city was completely held hostage in the hands of his henchmen. Our schools, governmental services, businesses and offices were closed. Our streets were silent, and no one dared to walk them. Our people were barricaded in their homes out of fear; death awaited them around every corner.
Terrorists occupied and controlled the only hospital in the city. Their savagery reached such a level that they stuffed the corpses of children with explosives and tossed them into the streets in order to kill grieving parents attempting to retrieve the bodies of their young.
I excerpted this from a letter by the Mayor of Tal ‘Afar in Iraq, thanking our troops for their “lion hearts” and rescuing them from slaughter.
If anyone would like to see the full letter, let me know…

What Bush story are you referring to exactly? The one showing his polls in the mid 30s, or the story about how he is losing support from conservative writers, such as Buchannan, Buckley, and now Novak. Or the story about how Bartlett trashes Bush and how he mishandled the economy and diminished the idea of conservatism. Or the story about how even with control of both houses on congress, he cannot get his initatives passed, such as Dubai, Social security, Torture ban…etc. Which of those is unimportant?
I am not comforted by the fact W has 3 more years in office not because I disagree with his policies, which many I do, but because he is far to weak as a national leader right now. It is a danger for this country to have such a weak executive.

CBS News- Sept. 20, 2004
The military records of the two men running for president have become part of the political arsenal in this campaign – a tool for building up, or blowing up, each candidate’s credibility as America’s next commander-in-chief.
While Sen. Kerry has been targeted for what he did in Vietnam, President Bush has been criticized for avoiding Vietnam by landing a spot in the Texas Air National Guard - and then failing to meet some of his obligations.

Raegan tribute: Ronald Reagan understood military service and the honor of wearing the uniform of our nation’s armed forces, just as he also uniquely understood service with honor. He brought strength of character to the role of Commander in Chief that in part he learned from his days in the U. S. Army during World War II, and 35 years later he was to bring a new pride of service in our armed forces that I personally experienced, and believe me, the difference from service during the Vietnam War and service during the Reagan years and how those who wore the uniform were treated by our nation was absolutely “night and day”.
My father and other soldiers have told me for every one man on the front lines there are five to seven in the rears supporting him, but leave it to patriots like RE to discredit 7 out of tens’ service.

When President Reagan disembarked from Air Force One or Marine Helo One and he returned the salutes of the military personnel stationed at the foot of the departure ladder, you knew in an instant that he had served in America’s military. Quite simply, Ronald Reagan knew how to render a military salute. And since we all saw those salutes on TV everywhere he went, there was an immediate bonding among the military “band of brothers” as every military veteran and every man and woman in uniform said to themselves “he’s one of us — he’s REALLY one of us”.

If you’ve ever wondered why the stupid POS liberals don’t win elections, it’s because they don’t have the strength, beliefs or convictions that Conservatives do. American people don’t want moral bankruptcy running the show:
Bush says his beliefs unshaken by poor poll numbers
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Down in public opinion polls, President George W. Bush said on Friday he realizes he has made some unpopular decisions but that it “comes with the territory” and he will stand by his beliefs.
“I know some would like me to change, but you can’t be a good decision-maker if you’re trying to please people. You’ve got to stand on what you believe, that’s what you’ve got to do, if you’re going to make decisions that are solid and sound,” he said.
Money quote:
“I understand some of the things I’ve done are unpopular. But that’s what comes with the territory. If you’re afraid to make decisions and you only worried about, you know, whether or not people in the classroom are going to say nice things about you, you’re not leading,” he said.

Scooter,
I am with you on a general distrust of politicians. The fair tax can be just as manipulated as any other, because it is on paper and still thoeretical, it seems completely workable. Then again, nearly every economic idea on paper seems workable, the communist manifesto seemed like a good idea until 30 or 40 years of experience showed it’s failure.
Taxing every service 22 or 28% seems like a good idea, but it also seems like there are large exemptions for business. Example, if you own a car and fill it with gas at 2.00/gal, the actual price would be about 2.55. (yes I know prices should fall, hear me out). However with a business exemption, if I own a company and drive that company car, I would avoid 0.55 every time I fill up. In fact every item I purchase through my business would be tax free, and there is technically a need for just about every item for a business, from computers, tvs, food, furnishings…etc. Now if I was in full compliance, I could buy all these goods tax free through the business, then resell the used goods to myself tax free, avoiding my share of the tax.
You wind up with either a much higher embedded tax or a nightmare of tax fraud and dummy corporations, imagine how much larger the IRS or a similar agency would have to be to police the compliance of a fair tax.
The politicians can still mess with the fairtax, imagine some good ideas like a tax break for hybrids, or private schooling, legal fees….pick a special interest, find a loophole
It is a great theory, but a little short sighted.

The VAT would be a huge contributer to inflationary pressures.
RE, the VAT taxes the profits of every level of production. Hence, each level that adds value is taxed.
In defense of the Fair Tax;
`(c) Conversion of Business or Export Property or Services- Property or services purchased for a business purpose in a trade or business or for export (sold untaxed pursuant to section 102(a)) that is subsequently converted to personal use shall be deemed purchased at the time of conversion and shall be subject to the tax imposed by section 101 at the fair market value of the converted property as of the date of conversion. The tax shall be due as if the property had been sold at the fair market value during the month of conversion. The person using or consuming the converted property is liable for and shall remit the tax.
As to a business saving .55 dollars per gallon everytime they fill up their company car, that is partialy where the decreased prices of retail goods come from. Expenses to business and corporations are always passed on to the consumer. Because business’s only source of funds to pay the governments taxes is a product of price and quantity.
Also, there will be tax evaders in all tax systems, current one included. Question is would somoene be willing to risk being in violation of the above subsection?

RE: Bartlett’s book: “Impostor” is a great read. VAT is used throughout Europe. A tax is added to goods and services. The more you buy the more tax you pay. No tax forms are required. The merchant regularly accounts to the government. (Yes, I know there are tax cheats) The % tax varies depending upon the needs of the government. The poor pay less because they have less to spend. Yet, they pay “relatively more” than the rich since a, say flat 15% “taxes” them more dearly. There is more to it than I can give in the space allotted.

It was France and Germany that forced the imposition of a VAT in addition to income taxes across the European Community. Shall we follow France’s lead? Your sex change joke is lame per usual. Don’t give up your day job or you could end up like this out of work fella
Meanwhile, I am pleased as punch to be a part of the Reagan/Bush/Danish triumvirate. It’s one for all and all for one, and try as you may, you can’t remove Reagan from the equation in hindsight, not after years of your team calling him a dunce.

Just because Bush was a deserter does not mean he’s not qualified to head the military. Just because he was a failure in business (over and over) does not mean he’s not qualified to determine many of this nation’s economic questions. I mean come on, you liberals are just out to slander him with flimsy politically motivated stunts, rather than hard evidence.
Oh, by the way, Ralph was/is me, so start whining, communists.

Daniel,
Let’s look at a billionaire under the FairTax – if he spends $10,000,000 dollars he pays a tax of $2,300,000 and gets a rebate of $4,283 (assuming he is married and has no children). His effective tax rate is 22.96 percent.
Now, let’s look at a middle-income married couple, under the FairTax, with no children – if they spend $40,000, they pay $4,917 net of their rebate for an effective tax rate of 12.3 percent. The effective tax rate increases as spending increases, but never exceeds 23 percent!
I will add that those at or under the poverty level will pay no federal tax at all. No SS tax, no Medic are tax etc… What could be more “progressive”?

Here’s a good one: The Boston Catholic Archdiocese, you know, the one that almost went bankrupt settling all the child molestation cases against it, is shutting down its adoption services. Why? Because they are required by state law to consider gay couples as prospective parents. It will be interesting to see the comments this one draws.

Yes, boys and girls, I think you should “charge” me. Charge me with p** you off. Charge me with using different ID’s on the “legal” documentation that is this informal, political cartoon blog. Charge me with saying things that you don’t agree with, or that are just not nice. That’ll work. Good luck; sounds like money well spent. You may forget that this is America, not the fascist kingdom you’d like to turn it into. You’re right— committing felonious theft has nothing to do with judicial vetting. One can certainly do the former and still be qualified to be appointed by Bush. It has been proven time and time again that this administration believes that holding someone’s criminal record against them is paramount to discrimination. Another brilliant insight, BD.

Socialist Dick,
If you actually read the linked article, or my previous post, you would have seen that someone in the Senate queried him about having used the word “queer” in 1984.
Therefore, much like the Alito hearings, the priorities of the vetter in this case was on politically-incorrect speech, not on his qualifications.
So yes, it was a brilliant observation, thank you very much.

Wow, very nice on Mike. Honestly, I still can’t decide if that last comment was the REAL Tom Delay or some imposter, because personally I was cracking up the whole time I was reading it. So I have 2 different things to say: 1. If that was an imposter, then good job, I personally think that the comment there was a funny little play on reality. 2. If that really was Tom Delay, then I would ask you to not come back to this site. Honestly, if you are going to spread your propaganda, don’t do it here in places where I, a fourteen year old, can even see through your lies.
