Well, our ambassador to Iraq says that a civil war is with us and also that getting rid of Saddam was a Pandora’s Box. Will Bush buy this? Or will he fire Khalilzad?

As much as I like ML, I’m not a fan of this particular comic. I did like the one a couple of weeks ago that portrayed Bush as Nixon. That was a much more accurate depiction. Even though it’s supposed to be a dig at GW, having the nation’s worst president ever dressed as the nation’s greatest president ever just kind of turns my stomach.

Since we are a bunch of pompous gasbags who consider ourselves to be above all of you common folk, we rarely seek assistance with our in house business matters. We have, however, come across an issue that we don’t quite know how to correct and we would like, just this once, to consult with, as much as we hate to do it, you ordinary people.
We originally had the idea of starting web based blogs that would touch on various subjects of interest. It was our intentions to have these discussion groups dominated by liberal thoughts and content. We had always believed that a typical pinko would be just as smart as we were and would be able to control the Conservative contributors on their own. Well, we couldn’t have been more wrong.
We seem to have developed a serious manifestation of intelligent Republicans in here that are utterly, and without mercy, shaming the liberal participants. This we cannot have. Not only is our ideology getting a major league a-ss whooping, we are getting inundated with emails from paying subscribers who want us to censor these overbearing Conservatives. Believe us, we would very much like to shut this mother down and be done with this humiliation but that would be a sure sign of defeat, and after the last several Novembers we do not wish to suffer further embarrassments.
Thusly, if any of you pinkos can come up with a way to rid us of these domineering superior individuals, we will give you a free subscription to Sunday home delivery.
Thank you for your patronage, you stupid POS liberals!

Pardon me but “AJC Editorial Staff” sense you seem to want to be humorus, perhaps you should dwell on this “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” So you sit here and decide you are going to make fun of people you honestly don’t know other than through here, basically what you want is for people to start making fun of you. And By The way there are other ways of getting your point accross that are much more polite than that, just simply saying that hey could we please be more kind and considerate in here is a good place to start. oh and FYI that was not in the least bit funny, and it certinly did not take all that many brain cells to think up, so perhaps you should think before you type. Thanks!

DavidU,
Mangos are potentially a great strategic asset. They must be managed prudently.
Donald Rumsfeld once said, “Sometimes, you have to go to war with the mangos you have, not the mangos you want”.
The Defense Secretary illuminates an important national security issue.
It’s vital that the nation maintain it’s mangos in a top state of readiness, so that the mangos we have are indeed the mangos we want.

Here’s what a state full of pompous liberals will get you:
The commission, which oversees state utilities, announced yesterday that customers served by Potomac Electric Power Co. (Pepco), Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (BGE) and Delmarva Power will see annual rate increases between 35 percent and 72 percent. A typical electricity bill for Pepco residential customers will jump by 39 percent, or an average of $468 a year, starting June 1 under the newly set prices. For DPL customers, the price will rise by 35 percent, or $464, also on June 1. BGE customers will see an increase of 72 percent, or $743 annually, starting July 1. The increases are a result of a competitive bidding process among electricity suppliers to provide what is called “standard offer service,” which is set at market rates as utilities buy power from wholesalers. The process is monitored by the Public Service Commission as well as the Office of the People’s Counsel, a state utilities watchdog group

One former John Conyers, Democrat, Mich, legal counsel, Sydney Rooks, who left the office in 1999, says Mr. Conyers had her tutor his son, John, during working hours and that “she was not given additional compensation for the work,” according to the Hill. She said other staffers had to pick up the Conyers children from school and in effect babysit them in the office. Former staffer Deanna Maher alleges the congressman allowed a former top aide convicted of fraud to obtain a fake passport through the office, and then fled to Ghana. The aide was eventually recaptured and extradited to the United States. She also alleges that Mr. Conyers used his staff to work on the campaigns of friends and relatives, including his wife’s, without taking leave. In 1998, she says, Mr. Conyers ordered her to live in his Detroit home for six weeks taking care of his children while his wife attended law classes. In a Dec. 22, 2004, letter obtained by the Hill, Miss Maher said Conyers staffer Melody Light “conducts her law practice (charging legal fees) out of the congressional office… She has in effect hung out her shingle on [Conyers’] office door.” Says Miss Maher in a Jan. 13 letter to the House ethics panel: “I could not tolerate any longer being involved with continual unethical, if not criminal, practices which were accepted as ‘business as usual’. ” She quit in May. If true, these allegations represent a clear violation of House rules. Using staffers for personal business as babysitters or tutors is exploitation and a blatant misuse of taxpayer dollars. Mr. Conyers had better have a good explanation for all this.

Cynthia Tucker, Queen Pinko, extreme left wing liar:
Take the bill that would allow Atlanta Gas Light to charge customers for construction of $300 million in new pipeline capacity on Elba Island near Savannah. The Public Service Commission should study any such construction proposal in depth to see whether new pipeline is needed and how much consumers should have to pay for it. This bill would enable AGL to bypass much of that process; if it passes the state Senate, AGL will be able to pass the cost on to consumers — who are already struggling with high energy bills — while additional revenue from the pipeline goes to stockholders.
Let’s see, turn on the computer, google the phrase “AGL Elba Island Pipeline” and up pops the truth:
Supporters said the plan, which authorizes AGL to spend up to $300 million for a pipe starting at Elba Island, would increase competition among the carriers of liquefied natural gas and ideally reduce gas costs by increasing supply.
In her defense, I concede that a bleeding heart socialist wouldn’t know the basic capitalist tenets of increased supply equals lower prices.
Nah, I take that back. Queen Pinko apparently gets off hammering on Republicans at the expense of your energy costs. She wants to keep the price inflated so that the GOP looks bad, she doesn’t care what it costs you. And she is counting on your ignorance to get you to go happily along with her misguided agenda.
Enjoy the ride, you stupid POS liberals!

We know that the Iraqi Intelligence Service called on its operatives and allies to assassinate Sunni and Shiite clerics and to attack Sunni and Shiite mosques. According to one Iraqi official who read a February 2003 memo from the former director of Iraqi Intelligence, the plan was simple: blame Sunnis for the violence done to Shiites and blame Shiites for the violence done to Sunnis. That document was found in April 2003. Had it been released by now, it might have provided some important context for understanding the mosque attack in Iraq last week.
The U.S. intelligence community has treated the captured documents as if they are little more than a historical curiosity. In fact, for the good of the Americans and Iraqis fighting insurgents in Iraq today, the sooner they are released the better.

As for President Bush, the base of those with “a great deal” of confidence in the people in charge of running the White House - i.e., in him - was, at 25%.That’s nothing to write home about. But Mr. Bush can console himself with the news that he has more support than either “the press”- in which only 14% have a great deal of confidence - or Congress, which, at 10% is mired at the bottom of the poll with the lawyers.- NY Sun Editorial.

So far today, it looks like the “Cons” are the culprits, doesn’t it? In looking over the posts for this toon, I can only find this invective in the radical “Con” entries. Radicals assume the rest of us can’t read, that they can deprecate with impunity, or that they can engage in self-hijacking to make it appear that they are the beleaguered, down-trodden, and picked-on. If “conservatives” want to regain any credibility with moderates, they must address the radicals within their ranks. Moderates just aren’t buying the propaganda and invective any longer!

After saying the leaders keep pushing back the release date for their legislative proposals, from last November to “a matter of weeks” from now, Post reporters found the reasons: Democrats can’t agree on what they stand for! The mucky-mucks can’t decide whether to run nationalized campaigns or stress local issues. And they can’t decide the right balance between attacking Bush and pushing their own ideas.
The latter, of course, is hard to do if you don’t know what those ideas are.

REP. DUNCAN HUNTER (R), CALIFORNIA: In 2003, Dubai allowed a shipment of 66 high-speed triggers that are ideally suited for nuclear weapon detonations. The United States tried to stop the sale — or the transshipment through the Dubai ports. We asked the UAE not to do it. They said, we are going to do it anyway.
They transferred those triggers to a Pakistani businessman with a close relationship with the Pakistan military. They similarly have allowed shipments of heavy water — that’s the material that you use to ultimately build a nuclear weapon — coming from Russia and China, through Dubai, into India.
The point is — and they have also allowed the precursors to nerve gas to be shipped through Iran. And, thankfully, we stopped that deal, because we found out about it. We made a string operation and stopped it.
The point is, Dubai cannot be trusted. They are the people who will sell or allow a transshipment of anything to anybody. And those people shouldn’t be in charge of our ports.

Who are these idiots talking about Warner of Virginia? Being anodyne is not sufficient qualification for being President. And if there’s nobody in Washington and we can’t find a Democratic governor, let’s run Bill Moyers, or Oprah, or some university president with ethics and charisma.
I think Bill Moyers is an excellent choice, y’all.
It gets better:
What happens now is not up to the has-beens in Washington who run this party. It is up to us. So let’s get off our butts and start building a progressive movement that can block the nomination of Hillary Clinton or any other candidate who supposedly has “all the money sewed up.”
Every Democrat I talk to is appalled at the sheer gutlessness and spinelessness of the Democratic performance. The party is still cringing at the thought of being called, ooh-ooh, “unpatriotic” by a bunch of rightwingers.

I’m sorry that union teachers are mad at me. But when it comes to the union-dominated monopoly, the facts are inescapable. Many kids are miserable in bad schools. If they are not rich enough to move, or to pay for private school, they are trapped.
It doesn’t have to be that way. We know what works: choice. That’s what’s brought Americans better computers, phones, movies, music, supermarkets — most everything we have. Schoolchildren deserve the joyous benefits of market competition too.
He’s exactly right, not only that, the fat lazy teacher’s union members need to be challenged. Our kids deserve better than the AFL-CIO!

REP. DUNCAN HUNTER (R), CALIFORNIA: “In 2003, Dubai allowed a shipment of 66 high-speed triggers that are ideally suited for nuclear weapon detonations.
We made a sting operation and stopped it.
The point is, Dubai cannot be trusted. They are the people who will sell or allow a transshipment of anything to anybody. And those people shouldn’t be in charge of our ports.”

The party of “the people” HAHAHA:
One of my favorite tidbits about Hollywood that I’ve gleaned from the starstruck press is that a great many of its most accomplished stars don’t allow their staffs to look them in the eye. I’m not making this up. It has been reported that Barbra Streisand not only discourages eye contact among staff, but that she required hotel workers to leave her presence only by walking backward. Jennifer Lopez — who had 75 attendants help her prepare for a cameo on Will & Grace — is also reputed to forbid her subalterns to look into the windows of her soul. Sylvester Stallone won’t stand for such effrontery, and Tom Cruise likes to ban eye contact, too, at least while he’s working.
Hey Empress of Elba, are the pinkos allowed to look you in the eye?

Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves, George Bush freed the Iraqis
wrong on both counts.
The Emancipation Proclamation did not free one single slave. The Proclamation referred to slaves living in the Union States, who were already free.
As for “freeing” the Iraqis, some of the photos I’ve seen make me want to hurl. You call that “freedom”? The Iraqis are no more free than the average prison inmate.
We’ve traded one brutal dictatorship for another. The rape rooms are NOT closed — they are open under new management. The prisons are NOT closed — they are open under new management. The people are still being killed, not by Saddam but by us.

Your wisdom is impressive. Like a shining light. There is so much smog. Such as:
Midori’s link to a lib writer is her way of saying Bush was comparing himself to Lincoln. This is what the president said at the opening of the Lincoln Library and Museum: “I am honored to be here to dedicate a great institution honoring such a great American.” That’s the main thought, folks. I know this is beyond your capacity, but if you start at the elementary through high school level and educate the minorities instead of forcing them to go to failing schools, they actually can qualify for higher education and won’t need institutionalized “affimative action” or “quotas”.
If they have some positive influences in their communities and encourage learning, one can countervail the influence of “hate whitey/Uncle Tom” propaganda.

The link isn’t my “way” of saying he compares himself to Lincoln, my words say it. I need not hide behind someone else’s words.
In any event, there’s plenty of cached stories talking about his delusion
Don’t hate the messenger.

There are still the “quota” of boring Leftists who can’t think of anything to say for themselves so they hijack my name (past and present identities), and post one quote after another with no meaningful commentary. REP. DUNCAN HUNTER (R), CALIFORNIA: “In 2003, Dubai allowed a shipment of 66 high-speed triggers that are ideally suited for nuclear weapon detonations.
We made a sting operation and stopped it.
The point is, Dubai cannot be trusted. They are the people who will sell or allow a transshipment of anything to anybody. And those people shouldn’t be in charge of our ports.”

Question for the Empress,
Since you decree that the word “neocon” be banned (like “pinko” should be, dontcha think?), what should we call people who call themselves “conservatives”, but with their love of huge deficits, mindless foreign entanglements, and government by edict, are anything but?
With that in mind….
Divisive Republicans are now like rats. They eat their young.
[“Oh, it won’t make any difference whether Republicans or Democrats are elected this fall to the rest of us. After all, with Republicans in charge of Congress and the White House for the last six years, spending has increased way beyond anything we imagined during President Clinton’s eight years in office.}(http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49161)
“Republicans have also shown that they don’t really care more about national security than their Democratic opponents. Just look at our still-unguarded borders…
“So, as far as I am concerned, I don’t have a dog in this race. Republicans have so badly mangled any opportunity they had to show the American people a distinction between the two parties that I’m at the point where I wish for a plague on both their houses.”
And this is the unified party with a plan? Makes the Democrats look downright organized.

Except when you’re marching to war, it’s not a very optimistic thought, is it? In other words, it’s the opposite of optimistic when you’re thinking you’re going to war.” —George W. Daniel, I don’t know if you were addressing me, but I simply fight to keep the power out of government’s hands. While liberals want to give more and more power to them and then complain about what government does with it. Without the competitive forces of the free market government will never operate efficiently, nor will they willingly relinquish the powers they have been given by the left. Look at today’s republicrats. The less power and control they have the less damage they can do.

From 1944 to 1956, Bush was a member of the Yale Corporation, the principal governing body of Yale University. From 1947 to 1950 he served as Connecticut Republican finance chairman, and was the Republican candidate for the United States Senate in 1950, losing to Senator William Benton by only 1,000 votes. The following year, Bush was Connecticut chairman of the United Negro College Fund, and was one of the UNCF’s earliest supporters

Anyone find is slighlty odd that the US is pushing Iran, who signed the non proliferation treaty, and has not weaponized or would be able to for a decade any nuclear weapon, in the UN for inspections of all facilities and a halt to the operations it is currently performing. Three days ago GWB went to India, a country who did not sign the NPT, does have weaponized nucs, and performed testing back in 1998 which helped bring more tension to the indopak region. India now gets more nuc info from us and a promise not to inspect any of its nuclear facilities.
Can you see how many other countries in the world no longer trust the US, we have no standard, and obey no treaty.

Some deep intelligent reasoning from the pinkos at Daily Kos:
So we didn’t kill off Cuellar, but we gave him an a* whooping where none was expected and made him sweat. That’s the reason why [Sen. Good news these days is hard to find. But for no good reason. The mainstream media highlight and overhype America’s failures and challenges, from the slow response to Hurricane Katrina to mistaken intelligence on Iraq, giving the impression that a dark cloud hovers over the land. Yet, obscured by the day-to-day hyperventilating of the press lies the most underreported news story of our time: Americans today are better off than at any time in history and are overwhelmingly optimistic about the future.
Newspapers dutifully report on the “poverty rate,” which has remained relatively stable over recent decades, but it’s important to put that statistic into context. While there are many in this country who experience truly serious deprivations, the typical American living below the poverty line owns a car; has air conditioning, a cell phone, and a microwave; and lives in a home that isn’t overcrowded. Nearly half own their own homes. In terms of access to material goods and life improving technologies, a poor household today is far better off than the average household in 1950.

How the Bush Administration Changes a Light Bulb
How many members of the Bush administration does it take to change a light bulb?
One to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed;
One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changed;
One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb;
One to arrange the invasion of a country rumored to have a secret stockpile of light bulbs;
One to give a billion dollar no-bid contract to Halliburton for the new light bulb;
One to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a step ladder under the banner: Light Bulb Change Accomplished;
One administration insider to resign and write a book documenting in detail how Bush was literally in the dark;
One to viciously smear #7;
One surrogate to campaign on TV and at rallies on how George Bush has had a strong light-bulb-changing policy all along;
And finally one to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing a light bulb and screwing the country.

Bush and the Bible: A Letter to George Bush Dear President Bush,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose and support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. As you said “in the eyes of God marriage is based between a man a woman.” I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination… End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.
Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?
Lev.21:20 states that I may ! not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle- room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

The Coded Message
After numerous rounds of “We don’t even know if Osama is still alive,” Osama himself decided to send George W. Bush a letter in his own handwriting to let the President know he was still in the game.
Bush opened the letter and it appeared to contain a single line of coded message:
370HSSV-0773H
Bush was baffled, so he e-mailed it to Condi Rice. Condi and her aides had no clue either, so they sent it to the FBI.
No one could solve it at the FBI so it went to the CIA, then to the NSA.
With no clue as to its meaning they eventually asked Britain’s MI-6 for help. Within a minute MI-6 cabled the White House with this reply “Tell the President he’s holding the message upside down.”

The Bushes and Clintons on a Train
George and Laura Bush and Bill and Hillary Clinton are traveling by train to the Super Bowl. At the station George and Laura each buy a ticket and watch as Bill and Hillary buy just one ticket. “How are the two of you going to travel on only one ticket?” asks George W, astonished at what he is seeing. “Watch and learn,” answers Hillary.
They all board the train. George and Laura take their respective seats but Bill and Hillary cram into a toilet together and close the door. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the toilet door and says, “Ticket, please.” The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand… The conductor takes it and moves on.
The Bushes see this happen and agree it was quite a clever idea, so after the game they decide to try a similar plan on the return trip.
When they get to the station, they see the Clinton’s at the window buying a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Clinton’s see that the Bushes don’t buy any ticket at all. “Aren’t you taking a terrible chance by traveling without a ticket?” says Hillary. “Live and learn,” answers Laura Bush.
When they board the train the Bushes cram themselves into a toilet and the Clintons cram into another toilet just down the way. Shortly after the train leaves the station, George W. leaves their toilet and walks over to the Clinton’s toilet, knocks on their door and says, “Ticket, please.”
And you’re still trying to figure out how the Democrats lost that election.

George W. Bush’s Intelligence Quiz
While visiting England, George W. Bush is invited to tea with the Queen. He asks her what her leadership philosophy is. She says that it is to surround herself with intelligent people. He asks how she knows if they’re intelligent.
“I do so by asking them the right questions,” says the Queen. “Allow me to demonstrate.”
She phones Tony Blair and says, “Mr. Prime Minister. Please answer this question: Your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or sister. Who is it?”
Tony Blair responds, “It’s me, ma’am.”
“Correct. Thank you and good-bye, sir,” says the Queen. She hangs up and says, “Did you get that, Mr. Bush?”
“Yes ma’am. Thanks a lot. I’ll definitely be using that!”
Upon returning to Washington, he decides he’d better put the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to the test. He summons Jesse Helms to the White House and says, “Senator Helms, I wonder if you can answer a question for me.”
“Why, of course, sir. What’s on your mind?”
“Uh, your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or your sister. Who is it?”
Helms hems and haws and finally asks, “Can I think about it and get back to you?” Bush agrees, and Helms leaves. He immediately calls a meeting of other senior senators, and they puzzle over the question for several hours, but nobody can come up with an answer. Finally, in desperation, Helms calls Colin Powell at the State Department and explains his problem.
“Now look here Colin Powell, your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother, or your sister. Who is it?” Powell answers immediately, “It’s me, of course, you dumb a*.”
Much relieved, Helms rushes back to the White House and exclaims, “I know the answer, sir! I know who it is! It’s Colin Powell!” And Bush replies in disgust, “Wrong, you dumb a*, It’s Tony Blair!”

George: Now whaddya’ asking me for?
Condi: I’m telling you Hu is leading China.
George: Well, I’m asking you. Who is leading China?
Condi: That’s the man’s name.
George: That’s who’s name?
Condi: Yes.
George: Will you or will you not tell me the name of the new leader of China?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he was in the Middle East.
Condi: That’s correct.
George: Then who is in China?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yassir is in China?
Condi: No, sir.
George: Then who is?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yassir?
Condi: No, sir.
George: Look, Condi. I need to know the name of the new leader of China. Get me the Secretary General of the U.N. on the phone.
Condi: Kofi?
George: No, thanks.
Condi: You want Kofi?
George: No.
Condi: You don’t want Kofi.
George: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of milk. And then get me the U.N.
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.
Condi: Kofi?
George: Milk! Will you please make the call?
Condi: And call who?
George: Who is the guy at the U.N?
Condi: Hu is the guy in China.
George: Will you stay out of China?!
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the U.N.
Condi: Kofi.
George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone.
(Condi picks up the phone.)
Condi: Rice, here.
George: Rice? Good idea. And a couple of egg rolls, too. Maybe we should send some to the guy in China. And the Middle East. Can you get Chinese food in the Middle East?

RW, No, I still think it is funny, look at BD with her panties in a bunch, now that is funny. I am waiting to hear her explain to me what irony is because apparently I am mistaken. See I thought it was when you said one thing but meant the exact opposite. EX:

Another thing, JESUS HATES PUBLIC PRAYER, it should be banned by a constitutional amendment, stop disobeying JESUS!

Ann!
Although I must tell you, overall, this Academy Awards ceremony was a major strategic retreat by Hollywood. Despite all their Bolshevik bluster about how Democratic politicians won’t stand up to Republicans, the Hollywood left is as scared of decent patriotic Americans as the Democrats are.
She must know some chickens-hit name jackers.
“Brokeback Mountain” did not win best picture, “Munich” won nothing, and the Palestinian suicide bombers movie won nothing. There was no angry self-righteousness from Vanessa Redgrave against “Zionist hooligans,” or from Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon for the Haitian boat people. There was no Bush-bashing. There was no Michael Moore. The host was not Whoopi Goldberg, so that’s a big fat reward to every man, woman and child in America right there.

REally annoying RE,
I just wasted my time re-reading your NOTHING posts, and they are completely devoid of irony - at least any irony that was intentionally employed by you.
I did find one UNintentionally ironic post where you took the wrong side on the Iran debate, and stated that there is nothing to worry about for 10 years.
That’s right, little ironic RE knows more than Bush, Cheney, Rice, Negroponte, The CIA, FBI, NSA, The European Union, and the rest of the INFORMED world. RE says, there’s nothing to worry about! Contain ‘em, appease ‘em, and get the UN’s permission when that plan fails.

SS&S I guess it would be a sense of humor, and I find it better to actually debate a difference in point of view rather than an outright mocking, provided the person on the other end of the debate can respond in kind. Of course this is always interspersed with name callers and “drive by” rantings, but on the balance there are a good number of people here with interesting ideas that differ from my own that I can learn from.
But no one is above being mocked from time to time, if you have a sense of humor, it does not effect you very much

On a documentary by the History Channel the other night. Prior to WWII, hollywood directors took the lead to speak out against the atrocities being committed against the jews in Europe. This was done while the U.S. government was maintaining a neutral stance on the war.
Why you ask! Because many hollywood directors had not long been removed from those atrocities, and empathy was intact.
Today, there exists no such empathy for the truly oppressed. We live in a make-believe world where we think that as long as we behave civil, so will the rest of the world. Reality?????

“Don’t turn your backs on what made this country great,” she said, calling the measure “a rebuke to what America stands for.”

I still don’t think it is wrong that I do not share someone elses outrage over a little mocking.

REP. DUNCAN HUNTER (R), CALIFORNIA: “In 2003, Dubai allowed a shipment of 66 high-speed triggers that are ideally suited for nuclear weapon detonations.
We made a sting operation and stopped it.
The point is, Dubai cannot be trusted. They are the people who will sell or allow a transshipment of anything to anybody. And those people shouldn’t be in charge of our ports.”

I am going to tell you why GW is the greatest president ever, bar none. He respects congress and listens to their ideas. He has never once in his six years in office used his veto. Not once. He’s signed every bill that has ever come across his desk. He has waited until now, when a pivotal issue, an issue of national security is at hand to wield his mighty veto. He is a principled man who insists that the Arabs run our ports. He will not back off that belief because he’s a man of strong morals. So just because congress and the vast majority of the citizens are against this deal, it is important enough to GW that he will finally use his veto. One time. To help Arabs oversee imports into our country. That’s principle.

finch,
RE’s inability to take a firm position against nic-jacking exhausted me.
Sure, whatever you say. Ted Kennedy is an old F-art who doesn’t represent the party. Tell that to Cindy Sheehan and Michael “I build on wetlands” Moore, NARAL, the ACLU, the AARP, the NEA, George Soros, and all the other groups that define your team.
While Lierberman, who couldn’t get elected dog catcher in your proud party, is a lone wolf who is genuinely strong on national security, he still voted against Alito for no sound reason, except that the capo de capos, Ted Kennedy and Shmucky Schumer, put the unrefusable favor kabosh on him.
Murtha? Okay, maybe he has the early stages of dementia, or is still really, really p** that his team lost in 1994 and keep on losing. Once upon a time he served. That was then and this is now.
Obama? Articulate yes. Greater good kinda guy? Yes. I’m watching my pocketbook.
Republicans? There are many great ones out there. I happen to love George Allen. Bland is totally off, and falls into the “we’re a bunch of prudish robots” stereotype. Some, like Olympia Snowe are tools of the crunchy tax-and-spend and abortion on demand, enviro Left (I lived in Maine, I know how the Green/Gay/tax lobby works).
As an aside, I meant to point this out last week - why is it that pro-abortion rallies are almost entirely populated by butch Lesbians who have about a 1 in a million chance of experiencing an accidental pregnancy? I think I have the answer, but I’d love to hear yours and yours.

Empress,
I can see why you’re beat after jousting with the nic-jackers. Good fight, by the way.
Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, AARP, NARAL, the ACLU and George Soros do represent factions of the Democratic Party. But few Democrats agree with all of them. And Sheehan, Moore and Soros haven’t been elected to anything. AARP serves it’s demographics. I like the ACLU (keeps the feds on their toes). NARAL can be obnoxious, but Randall Terry and Operation Rescue are far worse, IMO.
And I stand by my original claim. Among elcted Republicans, I see a lot more conformity than I do among Democrats.
I honestly don’t know why lesbians attend “pro-choice” rallies. Interesting point, though I’ve never noticed their turnout. I’ve got to ask you this, though, and I’m not trying to be flip. Why are men the solid majority at “pro-life” rallies? Maybe because they don’t get pregnant?
