thanksgiving altercations
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
extended family gathered around the table, enjoying a meal together. a norman rockwell painting come to life.
in reality, tipsy relatives, who don’t like each other much, around the same table, make for potentially explosive/humorous situations.
does anyone have any good thanksgiving with relatives-from-hell stories to report?

Nope, can’t help you there. Everything at my home is quite normal. We have no obsessive compulsives who go on and on about George Bush, we just talk about normal things like work and play. So who in your family has tired of your pathological occupation with the President of the United States? Or is it the whole family?

I have a sister that enjoys your socialist cartoons. So the rest of our family enjoys telling her she should move to France and become another American hating, flag burning, bed wetter.

My family has a tradition. The father who won’t eat. Almost every Thanksgiving he gets ticked off at something (traffic, his job, his wife, kids, their spouses, grandkids) and just sits at the table, scowling, and insisting he’s “not hungry”. We’re waiting for him to threaten to hold his breath until he dies. Over the years, we’ve learned to ignore his pettiness and just enjoy eachother’s company.
Most of us really enjoy your “socialist” cartoons, by the way. They can be so surgically on target, as evidenced by the outraged reactions they generate here. You’re a true American patriot. Keep up the good work.

ml,
Why do I get the impression that your inane ramblings always start somewhere in the middle? But, I digress.
I just got back from a lovely family gathering in Augusta. Over 50 relatives with none of the made-in-Hollywood scenes you describe. In the real world families have a strange tendency to get along and be thankful for each other and their blessings.
How about a traffic-from-hell story about the I-20/285 interchange?

For all the readers of this blog that would like a more inspiring Thanksgiving message than what ml is looking for, this is from a famous George in our history.
It’s not a Bush and no, ml;gadem;candice;midori et all, it isn’t Soros either.

RW, What about Bill Clinton’s and the two by Abe Lincoln. Are you cherry picking your links? Are you a wingnut?

getalife,
Yes, I guess I am so 18th century that I must be a cherry picking wingnut. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

I’d have to say that my Thanksgiving was perfect, probably because there were no pinkos and no colored or gay people around.
