mike attends clinton conference
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
last weeknd, hofstra university hosted a four-day clinton symposium. it looked back at every aspect of the clinton presidency from foreign and domestic policy to the way the media treated clinton.
i was invited invited to participate on a panel entitled, “EDITORIAL CARTOONISTS AND THE CLINTON PRESIDENCY, THE GIFT THAT KEPT ON GIVING.”
the panel consisted of me, two other editorial cartoonists, a cartoonist from the new yorker, plus about a half-million monica cartoons.
prior to my panel, i attended clinton’s speech that kicked-off the conference. he took credit and responsibility for the successes and failures of his administration.
after the speech, i shook his hand. he told me he follows my cartoons and mentioned one he had seen the previous sunday in the ny times.
he was very kind to me despite all the monica cartoons.
below is one of the cartoons i showed during my panel.

It’s clear that Luckovich is a biased liberal who only goes after republican figures and never even considers skewering anyone on the left.
… oh, wait.

Mike, you gotta ask yourself: Is what’s good for cartoonists good for the country? If we had a president who avoided scandals and solved problems in a bipartisan way (and didn’t have big ears), what would you do? Then again, the chance of that happening is pretty slim, so go ahead and order the big steak.

I did not have a relationship with that fat girl. We did, however do the nasty and gave a new meaning to the oval office! Can you blame me? Look it, I had to make an executive decision, the fat girl or that manly beast I married. Fat girl won hands down well at least on all fours. I mean really, she was the closest thing around to a farm animal and I was homesick.

Andy,
The server does seem to s-c-rew up conservative posts most often.
Bracket [ ] what you want the link to say and then put the URL in ( ), with no space between the close bracket and open parenthesis.

Come on guys, where’s the intellectual thought gone off to? This is pretty easy to figure out. I know that cartoon boy’s implication of this scribble is that it was “bashing” Clinton for the Monica wilding. Think about this, the cartoon came out at the same time that Billy was fessing up to the nation; was this not drawn to put a happy little innocent face on the whole ordeal?
We still don’t have a cartoon that was critical of Clinton.
Now check this out. Why would globe trotting ex-pres Der Slick want to meet up with a bunch of washed up, has been, pinko lib cartoonists? To scope out their wives, you fools!

One more for good measure:
In case you don’t remember, “Boogie to Baghdad is the phrase that Richard Clarke, when he was the top White House counterterrorism official during the Clinton administration, used to express his fear that if American forces pushed Osama bin Laden too hard at his hideout in Afghanistan, bin Laden might move to Iraq, where he could stay in the protection of Saddam Hussein.
Clarke’s opinion was based on intelligence indicating a number of contacts between al Qaeda and Iraq, including word that Saddam had offered bin Laden safe haven.
It’s all laid out in the Sept. 11 commission report. “Boogie to Baghdad is on Page 134.

You’re lucky, Mike, to get to meet Clinton. I stood in a line for a few hours once to listen to him speak, and they ran out of tickets. People who got actual seats showed up at 5-7 a.m. for a distribution that started at noon. I’m jealous.

rushncap,
Talk about strange irony. I’ve never had any interest in meeting President Clinton, but did.
In 1994 I was working the Arkansas/Duke basketball final. A few of us were waiting to go over to the Arkansas locker room. Security stopped us because Clinton had decided to come down there before he left.
He stopped and talked to us for awhile. You and I have our differences, but I wish you could have had my spot. I think you would have appreciated more.
