Lame-O. As usual. Come on y’all, I’ve seen kindergarten scribblings that produce deeper, more meaningful insight. Honestly, if this is representative of the liberal intellect, you pinkos might want to consider hiring some junior high schoolers, you know, someone with a little more maturity.

Andy-Nixon was a pinko by your standards, Teddy Roosivelt and Eisenhower too and I would gladly pay to have any of them in Bush’s place. Of course they were concearned with well-being of the citizens more than Haliburton so that makes them Commies too. Incedentally why dont you put on your little brown shirt and go back to Italy Mousselini and take your fascist nationalistic crap with you

see I can thoughtlessly point fingers and call names too only mine are more than just rhetoric

Stop the presses, forget the cartoons!!!

TrueConservative finally made a post under 16 paragraphs. Alas, no less moronic.

Scooter, Midori can’t be Cynthia McKinney. McKinney is trying to find out if the FBI killed Tupac, Midori works on much more recent conspiracy theories.

Wait, I get the cartoon! This is the positive Bush scribble, but in two parts. Tomorrow ml will have President Bush step in and pardon the turkey.

Credible sources have confirmed that Joe Wilson has been uncovered as the leaker in the Valerie Plame name case and that the CIA’s call for an investigation of Robert Novak was itself a breach of the law. Criminal charges are being referred to the Dept. of Justice as early as this morning.

Where is my cartoon?

By Dusty

November 8, 2005 07:55 AM | Link to this

This cartoon is an abomination. Any American who looks at this sketch done by a crackpot anti-war cartoonist and finds it suitable, needs to go out and sing a few verses of the Star Spangled Banner. If, in the fervor of political aspirations you have forgotten how to be an American, don’t dump on the rest of us who love our country. Our leaders do not torture. They lead. That is what we elected them to do. All the leftist claptrap can’t change that.

By Jay

November 8, 2005 08:03 AM | Link to this

An abomination is what this administration has done to our country. We used to be the one country in the world that actually stood for something - human rights (no torture) was one of those things we used to champion. No more … now we are the country to busy to make a dollar to care what happens to the people we hold as prisoners. You fail to recognize that there is a large majority of the country that now see through Shrub’s lies - these folks took us to war over mis-reading intelligence reports. Taking shots at a reprenhsible practice (torture) is about as American as anything I think of. Someone please give shrub a blow job so we can impeach him!

By Malachi

November 8, 2005 08:07 AM | Link to this

As for being American, obviously you don’t know what it means. Americans like to complain, argue, and talk trash. That’s the American way. Harmonious doesn’t exist here, and who wants to have a huge kumbaya and sing holding hands? Is this the sixties?

I like the fact that I can call you a conservative, feeble-minded, dillwad, and know that it’s okay.

So get over yourself, and shut up the left/right argument. It is just as old as you say the “leftist claptrap” stuff. You sound like a broken record. “This cartoon is a disgrace.” “This cartoon hurts me.” “This cartoon is Un-American.”

This abomination before the Lord continues to offend the righteous and the God fearing.

Our Lord loves the President and is behind him 100%. If you do not believe me or the Lord, you are damned.

Love Jesus, Love George W. Bush.

It’s really that simple.

By Mrs. Godzilla

Any man woman or REV. who stands for torture and calls himself a Christian is using the Lords’ name in vain. Satan has taken over the far right wing.

By Dusty

November 8, 2005 08:21 AM | Link to this

Well, Malachi, your last paragraph got it right. This cartoon is a disgrace, hurtful to Americans and Un-American. Also, if you check around, your will find that the Star Spangled Banner is not kumbaya. Maybe you don’t bother to sing our national anthem anymore.

And Jay, Americans don’t “practice” torture. In fact, every accusation is investigated and a few soldiers who forgot are now in jail. But don’t let the facts bother you. Propaganda is your specialty. You call it talking “trash”.

By gttim

November 8, 2005 08:27 AM | Link to this

Our Lord loves the President and is behind him 100%

Your Lord love starting wars, killing innocents, torturing people, lying, stealing, looting taxpayer’s money for their wealthy friends, using religion to push hatred and bigotry? I don’t want to know your Lord. And lets be serious, if there is a heaven and Pat Robertson and you whackos are there, I do not want to be there for a minute, much less eternity.

My Lord is much better than yours. And he follows the teachings in the Bible. Perhaps you should read it? It might make a difference in your life.

You are right on target “gttim”. It is truly sick and appaling what has happened since the moron “W” came into office. As a sensible Christian, it disgusts me that these fundamentalist freaks have been given a voice just because our “leader” happens to be one of them. I’m not sure if you libs know this but paranoia is treatable and in most cases curable. You really should consider consulting a professional. If what the United States is doing in Iraq is making you fret, the situation in Darfur would cause you to freak slam out. The UN is doing such a wonderful job of standing by.

By Shamalama

November 8, 2005 09:02 AM | Link to this

I’m assuming the jist of this cartoon is that Cheney is responsible for the tortue of innocent persons. I haven’t read anywhere that this has been proven as fact, but it’s good to know that the crack journalism team at AJC has unearthed this fact.

Nothing new from Luckovich, a Ted Rall wanna-be.

It’s a pity that it took seven messages before someone spouted the dreaded word “Haliburton”, and then mis-spelled it. Word must not be out at Kos or DU yet.

Subscriptions and readership at the AJC, along with so many other metro newspapers, are down month after month, and yet people wonder why.

It’s been a long time since newspapers reported fact without filtering it through their agenda filters. Luckovich’s appeal, as always, is only towards the Left, not to the whole of the AJC readership. That’s why I like Jim Borgman at the Cincinnati Enquirer much better. http://borgman.enquirer.com/

It is ironic that the metro Atlanta area is growing rapidly and the AJC’s circulation is decreasing (for you libs that is an inverse statistical relationship). But, big papers such as the NYT LAT and WP are also declining. Reasons are numerous: The AJC is a rag; people can get news from other sources; and the public’s apathy is frightening.
And Cynthia McKinney is a disgrace, but, for you right-wingers who would you rather have representing the leftists? An Ivy League trained attorney such as Majette, or an anti-American, psychotic, babbling lunatic such as McKinney? You are never going to win that district, so, let McKinney be the public face of the leftists.

sf, I was not comparing Majette to Cynthia Mc. My posts have been directed at what I consider hypocrisy on leftist’s positions, however, let’s take a look at the Bush administration’s domestic policy. As an economic conservative I give Bush a D+. He cut taxes HOORAY! but his spending on non-defense items is outrageous. All things being considered equal, he has increased govt spending 400% more than Prez Clinton, and only 1/4 of that can be attributed to the war on terror. He is the only prez who at this jncture of a four year term has yet to veto a bill. He also took an oath to uphold the Constitution, stated the hideous campaign finance bill, McCain-Feingold, was unconstitutional, but signed it anyway. His No Child Left Behind Act is one of the worst pieces of legislation in recent history. Finally, he is politically naive. He tried to be nicey-nice to leftists like Teddy Kennedy and extended the olive branch and TK proceeded to whip the hell out of him with said branch. He needs to fight the good fight, but seems to lack the will.

Maybe she’s waiting, like Cynthia Mckinney, to be noticed by President Bush. And the remark about school-girl defense? Sound more like a self-critique on her part “i know you are but what am I?”. Her posts remind me alot of similar posts by like-minded idiots. Maybe you should have suggested Midol instead of Xanex.

We never know where putting our effort towards a change in this administration will lead. Here is what I don’t understand about the left’s arguement. I think we can all agree that the pre-war intel was bad. You will get no arguement from me on that. To say that you want to impeach Bush means that you believe he knew the intel was bad and lied about it. To me that is a large leap of faith. As we have noted before, people from both sides stated Saddam had WMD’s. Other countries stated this as well. Clinton bombed Iraq on this beleif. I don’t think any president would intentionally lie to the American public on purpose to go to war. I know that many of you think the Bush is an evil person out to help his friends, but I just don’t see it. I think when historians look back on the Bush era it will be viewed much like LBJ’s. The war will be a huge blot on his record, even if it does succeed in the end. As for LBJ, does anyone remember how the Gulf of Tonkin was overhyped in order to get more troops into Vietnam?

Fortunately, the American people know rabble rousing when they see it. They don’t want some wackos telling us how to run our country. We have the Constitution. Some of you seem to honor a manifesto. Please keep the noise down in the park. You are bothering the squirrels who came for the nuts.

This “cartoon” belittles our beloved Vice President because he does not want to subscribe to McCain’s amendment making it illegal to torture.

IT’S ALREADY ILLEGAL!!

Our truthsome President said it yesterday.

All the Vice President wants to do is exempt the CIA from the amendment so that, if neccessary sometime in the future, the CIA can do God’s work and extract Satan’s plans from his agents on earth.

God supports the CIAs rights to fight terrorists.

Andy, Eisenhower sent the first troops to Viet Nam in the 50s and I believe he was a Republican, Nixon withdrew the troops in 74’ and I believe he was a Republican. And between we were no closer to winning the war the day Ike sent the troops and the day Tricky Dick finally withdrew them. Read a little history.

By Ricky

Ronnie, you have fallen for the revionist history written about Vietnam. Yes while Eisenhower did send troops in the 50’s that was to help our friends the French who were losing another war. The numbers didn’t grow significantly until Johnson came into office and started micromanaging the war, including stopping the bombing of North Vietnam, which if you ask any military historian was a major mistake. Nixon withdrew the troops becuase support at home had so eroded during LBJ’s presidency that he didn’t have a choice. If we had waged total war and continued to bomb North Vietname the entire time we could have won the war.

Due respect to all, but we can’t act as if we are facing a civilized foe. Torture, war and violence are not the desired responses in any instance, and resorting to them is not something we should take lightly. But we are not engaged in a political battle for hearts and minds; we are engaged in a battle for survival against a zealous foe willing to die, in large numbers, to vanquish us. In such a scenario, all options must remain on the table. Do you want to die at the hands of terrorists with a clear conscience, or do you want to kill them first?

There has been and always will be some form of torture to prisoners (however our ememies seem to do things much worse than tearing up a bible or humiliating someone with nudity). Being locked in a cell could be considered torture in itself. The previous administrations just didn’t get personally blamed for it like the leftist media is trying to do now.

What is a MOBY afterall?

November 8, 2005 04:45 PM | Link to this

Mrs. G,

I’ll take a wild guess that amerika is the nazi reference. It could have been a typo, likely it wasn’t.

That leaves two. These are Twinkies, so they are niether a lie nor a mental health reference.

Even Al Franken has acknowledged the $850,000.00, so would you care to elaborate?

By RW-(the original)

November 8, 2005 04:52 PM | Link to this

Luigi,

A MOBY is someone that poses as a Republican when calling talk shows or posting on blogs.

If it is a conservative audience they will spread nasty rumors about some Republican, usually saying something like “The party I have belonged to all my life is really starting to disappoint me”.

When they go on a mixed forum, like here, they will try to play the most obnoxious sterotype liberals can think of for conservatives.

This is a method widely spread by the pop music guy Moby.

Congratulations to SteveSC; He is the first lib to bring anything but sputtering rage to this debate. Your contribution to this blog is greatly appreciated.

Don’t fool yourself about the torture of Nazis and Japanese. The media that followed the troops in WWII was very loyal to their country and respected our troops and their mission. They understood that war is hell but the survival of the United States of America trumped all other considerations. They didn’t run to the TV studio with the first controversial film clip they found, like the pinkos calling themselves reporters do today. Unfortunately, we now have to set limits for our troops, “tying one hand behind their back,” so that the libs won’t get them prosecuted for war crimes.

The ability for conservatives to shrug off acts of torture by our own side is deeply appalling, but then again they think ANY tactic is fine, as long as they are the only ones allowed to do it.

And they now have the audacity to blame the PRESS for REPORTING the wrongdoing. Staggering.

I guess they’ve conveniently forgotten Cheney’s own words condemning ANY FORM of p.o.w. torture during the first Gulf War…

Robert, your facts are incorrect. Republicans are upset at the press because the disclosed top secret(aka black) sites being run by the CIA. After the left has been so up in arms about Valerie Plame, you think that would be upset about secert prisons being made public too. But that is probably part of the double standard. Hopefully someone will get indicted for that breach of national security. There has been no proof of torture being condoned by this administration. Do you consider sleep deprivation or mind games to be torture? What about sitting in the cold?

Frankly I don’t get all the hoopla over torture and the secret prisons. This nation faces alot more compelling issues down the road than that one. The argument that it sullies our image is kind of moot when just about every other country on the face of this earth uses torture. Not only in the course of war but in the day to day domestic affairs of their nations. In an ideal world there would be no torture. But……..

To me there is a difference in the use of coercion for intelligence gathering purposes and the use of it as strictly a punitive measure or retribution. Good intelligence can save lives and I can agree that coercion can be justified for that purpose. I will say that psychological coercion is much more effective in producing desirable results. Physical coercion can result in someone saying anything that will get it stopped…true or not.

The use of coercion for punishment or retribution is generally counterproductive. Some of the things things that I saw during the Salvadoran Civil War bothers me to this day.
