Karl Rove waits

yo, yo, yo, party people, welcome to my blog!

this is my first official post. i’m not sure how this whole thing is going to develop. if i come up with ideas that cynthia tucker rejects, i’ll occasionally post the rough sketches, so that you all can call and email cynthia to tell her how unfair she is. sometimes i’ll mention things that interest me and see if they interest you. i’ll occasionally monitor what you all are posting and respond. i’m a one-fingered typist, so my posts will be short. i look forward to your feedback.

I get tired of his constant politically one-sided cartoons (when I look at them, which is rarely). I figured he was the kid that got wedgies on the playground all the time and now he’s just trying to get back at the world. Boooorrrrriiiinnnngggggg!!!!!

I agree with the poster above me. Luckovich’s smug, left-leaning, UNFUNNY cartoons are prime bird cage material. Whether its him, Cynthia Tucker, Jay Bookman, Maureen Dowd, or whatever liberal of the week, I’m always amazed at the incredible assemblage of patronizing (yet idiotic) thought process in one central location.

Mike:

You are both a funny & intelligent guy AND display a large amount of left wing bias in your content. When given the choice between two versions that explain an issue of the day you will always go with the version that appeals to the left. This is the case regardless of the presidential administration.

His cartoons recently (over the last year)have been one sided politically and a few times mean spirited. I think he has the talent, but you can see through people when they try to be funny or are just being nasty under the cover of humor.

Aww..the conservatives don’t like the constant bashing from Mike! Heheh. I ove it. There are plenty of conservative voices on AJC, as well as the rest of the media for you all to listen to. If you don’t like it, don’t read his stuff. Luckovich is brilliant. Keep on keepin on.

Mike, You are a credit to cartoonists everywhere. I worked with Gene Payne, a nationally syndicated cartoonist who lived in Charlotte back in the late 70’s. I have a lot of respect for what you do and what you say in one frame. Now, I’m looking forward to the more informal you in your blog. That you don’t capitalize your “i” showcases how humble “u r.” Steve

I prefer Jim Borgman at the Cincinnati Enquirer or Gary Varvel at the Indianapolis Star. They’re better artists, period. And don’t forget Bruce Tinsley’s “Mallard Fillmore.” Bruce skewers politically correct liberals daily. Why doesn’t the AJC run Mallard Fillmore but instead only run Doonesbury? To be fair & balanced, the AJC would run Mallard. But who ever accused the AJC of having balanced coverage?

Mike’s cartoons empitimize how liberal the AJC has become. His cartoons many times cross the line and show nothing short of total disrepect towards the President. Between his cartoons and Cynthia Tucker’s weekly bed wetting leftist rants, it is a wonder how the AJC sells any papers. The only reason I still get the paper is because it is the only one in town!

I am always amazed at your talent, Mike, and that you can come up with so many ideas for your cartoons. I can’t draw a straight line so I am in awe.

That said, and understanding that you will never appeal to everyone, I still tire of your constant liberal leanings. Although you aren’t a “journalist”, I do tire of the Bush bashing which has made my interest in your work wane. I just know you will be handing us another liberal tirade and “America sucks” commentary so I don’t pay much attention any more. Sorry.

Mike,

Your cartoons are visual distillations of the essence of the issues and personalities of the day are glimpses of the truth. Unfortunately, the servants of the ruling class don’t like to be reminded that they are pretending to hold the “cape of the naked emperor. Especially for this generation of Cons, the truth is scary.

Also one of the major deficiencies of the Cons is their inability to remember the past, such as when Clinton and the Democrats were responsible for running the country and your visual barbs at their foibles and follies.

Although I usually disagree with his viewpoint,I find myself smiling at what he does. My favorite Luckovich cartoon was the tribute to the late Lewis Grizzard. It shows Lewis at the Pearly Gates and his faithful dog Catfish there to greet him. I still tear up when I think of that.

Thank goodness for Mike. Your cartoons immediately reflect the absurdity and hypocracy in the political world. The conservatives want pork and pie for breakfast but will tell you that you’re un-American if you say them how many fat calories are in it. McCarthyism is alive and well in the good ole USA. Keep up the good work Mike!

He is horrible. Always having to label the people because the drawings are so bad. The humor is also not there at times to keep it to the left every day. He sacrifices humor for politics.

By Alexander

I realize that Mike’s wry cynicism may seem one-sided, these days, but - let’s face it - there’s really only one side of partisan politics that’s providing the fodder in the form of blatant chutzpah at this time.

I only wish the lively homage to political cartooning that was Filibuster’s, on Juniper at 10th, were still around so that many skeptics would know, from the Luckovich-festooned walls, just how truly “fair and balanced” our astute political pundit can really be.

The sitting President is certainly not the only leader of the free-world whose carictature has fallen prey to Mike’s-own styilized vote-of-confidence; you know, those lampooned protruberances that seem a harbinger of each forthcoming poll.

Thanks Mike, for years of levity, especially in what often seems like precarious political times.

Mike is one of my favorite political cartoonists and rarely do I think he misses a target. It seems very easy to determine how he votes and I do wish he would divide his wit more equitably. He does himself and his causes an injustice by not poking fun at ridiculous side of the left also.

By Joyce

Oh…come on people. Mike is amusing with his “right on target” cartoons. The con’s always scream if their icons aren’t lauded by everyone. Let’s face it, all liberals and all con’s aren’t bad people, just some of them. Look what the con’s have done to our national security!!

Cynthia Tucker sometimes is just too conservative for my tastes. We need someone on the left who is just as crackpot as Wooten is on the right. Nevertheless, Luckovich hits just the “right” spot most days and that makes many of us glad to tune in on a daily basis.

Mike, I’m sure you’re a good guy, but I find your cartoons (predictably) way too liberal and sometimes in poor or questionable taste. That Time magazine runs so many of them is to your credit as a professional but confirms your leftist tilt. Instead of making me think, too often, your cartoons simply irritate me.

Mike,

I agree with some of the others who state that your cartoons tend to lean to the left. That being said, don’t change your ways. There are times when the left actually has a valid point. And, nothing is more effective than satire in getting that point across.

My personal favorite cartoons of yours are “Numerous Dead Mayors of Atlanta International Airport” and “Star Wars Product Tie-Ins”.

I have always enjoyed Mr. Luckovich’s efforts…barring the occasional dud… and I think he is spot on with his political humor…someone has to point out that the current US admin (not to be confused with true Republicans, mind you) is leading us down the road to ruin.

The harder I laugh, the more on target his jab for the day.

My only…quandry?…is that I’m a Miamian, so the local Altanta junque Mike refers to is sometimes over my head.

I find it funny that there is a Republican in office and when Mike comments on the actions of said Republican he is accused of left-wing bias. Doesn’t anyone remember when Mike did cartoons that were critical of Clinton? It’s a political cartoonist’s job to point out the hypocrisy of those in power. Nobody should be off-limits.

I love Luckovich. After September 11, when I saw the cartoon with the FDNY standing outside the Pearly Gates and the caption read. “We’ve reached the top.” I have to admit, it brought more that one tear to my eye. I still have it taped to my monitor at work. While I don’t agree with your viewpoint on our President, I am not offended by it and I find the majority of your cartoons really funny. Mike: There isn’t much you do that doesn’t stir some emotion (anger, hilarity, reflection, sadness-too often) in me. I have posted selections on the fridge to relive the emotion. All your bashers have to do is not look—but they do—so you’re obviously stirring their emotions too. Of course their diatribes only remind me how many misguided “patriots” we have in America, defending a defenseless leader (yeah right!) and his precipice-leaning policies/decisions. W is the poster boy for political cartoonists and deserves every frame he gets. Thanks Mike! ewa

Mike, keep up the great work. I look forward to your cartoon each day, and they do depict reality. Keep creating cartoons that portray the conservative leaders in our government as they are: corrupt, unethical, criminal, ignorant, incompetent. After all, they seem to offer you a regular course of material to use. People of Georgia should not be shooting the messenger. I say print five-a-day in the paper.

Mike,

If I had to draw a cartoon of you, it would depict someone who could not walk straight because you lean so far to the left. Comments would come out of the left side of side of your mouth and your facial expressions would slant to the left. You would have a “I hate Bush” sign on the left side of your chest. I could go on but I am sure you understand my point.

Did you ever think of moving to Canada? I believe you would be happier in another country and perhaps the AJC could find a more objective cartoonist.

Come on FoxHeads lighten up, afterall it’s fair and balanced news reporting we all want, right? We all can use a different point of view from time to time. All the winds don’t have to be coming from the same direction. Clinton and the Dems got bashed in their day and it wasn’t anti-American to do it then and it’s not anti-American to do it to folks in charge on the hill today. It’s called freedom of speech. If you know you don’t like his point of view, then don’t read it.

I like your cartoons, some of them are harsh, but they are still true. I find it amazing how conservatives ALWAYS resort to name calling when something doesn’t go their way. In the first post I read the writer called you and idiot and a little further down someone called Cynthia Tucker a “bed wetter”. I’ve never been able to figure out how people who claim to be so right about EVERYTHING, can be so rude and tasteless whenever they feel like having a temper tantrum (which is often). Instead of being called Conservatives, I think Childish would better suite many of their statements and actions.

What can I say? I don’t look at your art because though your talent is mighty and undeniable, your focus on left wing viewpoint negates the genius the “art” displays. Even a child can understand how absurd and wrong the Left’s positions are on most everything… irrational and plain fact denying. So your art falls into the category of irrelevant except to show what is wrong with America… the left view point as a whole…

You people crack me up…I don’t see you writing telling Jim Wooten to be more LEFT leaning. Your problem is that y’all want everything to agree with the party line and anything that doesn’t you label “leftist”.

Apparently, none of you are familiar with the centuries-old role of the satirist…a GOOD satarist is SUPPOSED to lampoon those in authority. It’s their JOB. Also, you apparently don’t realize the difference between EDITORIALS and NEWS. One is supposed to be subjective and the other is not.

Mike Luckovich is a National Treasure. Republicans get skewered more than Democrats because they are the ones in power, and they are always better targets anyway. What do you expect when you have a knuckle dragger like DeLay as party leader and a President who appoints unqualified cronies? (btw, Rummy’s doing a heck of a job in Iraq). You people who don’t like it just watch too much Fox News! Besides, Mike did a lot of Clinton bashing when he was in power. As for Mallard Fillmore, the AJC did carry it at one time, and it was painfully stupid.

Curious if AJC required that your “toons” be of the same left wing bias that their news reporting is, when they hired you. Cuz’ they made a carbon copy of themselves. Which is okay. In America we have that right to express our opinions. But one only need to review the continuing loss of readers vis via subscriptions to your newspaper and to the many other liberal rags to see that we don’t have to pay for it either. I ended my paper years ago and will never buy this propaganda written by and through the blame America First crowd again. Amusing though that your free website is doing very well, and that when given the opportunity to have direct responses from your readers, this blog picks up a tremendous amount of negative feedback. You might want to reexamine this free exchange of ideas, because you will not want to hear it even though you obviously are so compassionate, diverse, and tolerant of other peoples opinions. Thats why I guess, all of your “toons” summarily dump on conservatives and only trump liberals when the MSM can’t help but report an obvious screw up, aka Lewinsky.

Why do conservatives think they have the right to tell Americans born and raised in The United States to leave. Do they not understand the Constitution, the part that gives all American “free Speech”. Everytime things don’t go their way, you’re either unpatriotic or you are unAmerican. Most conservative need to revisit the Constitution of The United States to see the principles this country was founded on.

You just have to laugh at some of these comments. On one hand it’s okay for our kids to go to war in Iraq and die so the people of Iraq can enjoy a life of freedom. Yet, when someone here has a different point of view, it’s wrong, it’s communist, it’s not Amercian, it’s not Christian. You won’t ever take away my guns, my dog, my family or my point of view….without a fight. Be you Republican or Democrat, you have your right to your point of view. If you’re getting this much ruckus from one side as opposed to the other Mike, you must be hitting your target.

I usually check the cartoons out, but more often than not, I am disappointed by them. They are nothing more than a visual rehash of yesterday’s headlines, and often are just mean-spirited or misleading. Mike is certainly entitled to his opinion, but I get the feeling it’s more pandering to the left than personal feeling. Isn’t it funny how people get so mad and so defensive when someone openly disagrees with their ideals and viewpoints? Hey conservatives - spend the day finding your sense of humor!!! If we can’t laugh over the way the republicans have screwed up this country, we’d … well, I guess all sound like you!!!! Angry and bitter!!!

And for those who keep asking Mike to be more middle of the road with his cartoons - he obviously has a viewpoint of his own. To Richard who says readership of the AJC is down, ratings are down and he stopped his paper years ago:

Readership is not down … look at the poll at the top of this blog. It says 68% like Mike, so ratings are obviously right up there … and you say you stopped your subscription years ago, yet you’re reading the paper right now on line and responding to one of it’s columns … interesting!

There’s a good reason Luckovich is one of the premier editorial cartoonists in the nation…he’s got a scathing pen and skewers the right and the left, nationally and locally. Whether it’s Karl Rove, Tom Cruise or laptops in Cobb County, no one is safe from Mike.

We’re lucky to have him in Atlanta!

Your cartoons get right to the heart of the matter. My all time favorites are the one dealing with the Southern Baptist Conventions’ stance on homosexuality( a decade or so ago) and Catfish meeting Lewis Grizzard at the Pearly Gates (I have that framed in my home.)

Mike, you are talented, but I would hope that when a Democrat takes office, you will show that you are not so biased to the left and take shots at a Democrat as well. Mike: You’re talented and skillful and you get a good laugh outa me now and then. Sometimes a bit too untasteful, and always biased, but I’d expect that from Atlanta’s liberal elite. Mike,

thanks for your support! your unfounded and biased rantings have aided and abetted my cause. Lucky for you that you live in America where you can hide behind this silly thing called the first amendment. If you had lived in Iraq during my regime and printed your crap in one of my state run mewspapers, I would have had you tortured and executed…hahaha! But since the administration that you arrogantly mock has removed me from power, I can’t oppress, torture and execute innocent Iraqis anymore…boohoo! But hey, on the off chance I’m found not guilty for my crimes against humanity maybe me, you, Michael Moore, and Cindy Sheehan can hang out and sing Kumbaya! Yours Truly,

I like Mike! Although you are sometimes a little more left than me, I find your humor to be dead on! The fact that it’s irreverent is a great reminder that not everyone is a blind follower of the administration because they are currently in power. The conservative right would do well to take an HONEST look around, in my opinion. The truth is that our country is in a precarious place - to put all our power (as well as our dwindling civil rights) in the hands of a group that’s so corrupt, greedy and selfish is foolhardy, indeed!

By Lyle

Luckovich is consistently on target and frequently very clever and funny. People who seem to be condeming him for being “left” are only acknowledging that he is frequently correct in his commentary. Not to turn this into a discussion of left/right, but if criticizing arrogance, stupidity, greed, hubris, callousness, negligent self-interest and Bush’s seemingly unwavering willingness to kill “others” to defend the bank accounts of his “base” is considered “left” then I don’t wanna be right.

Mike,

“Fair and balanced” isn’t your job. Don’t sweat it.

I am a former Republican political consultant (15 years ago). Nowadays I don’t claim either party, but I’m pretty sure that you and I don’t vote for the same people in most elections.

That said, I think you are brilliant at what you do. The people here who are criticizing you are ignorant of what a cartoonist is and does. Obviously you must draw it as you see it, and given how you see things, your cartooning is brilliant. I don’t always agree with with you (except about Lewis Grizzard and sports), but you’re good at what you do. Love to have a drink with you sometime and chat about your views.

Actually, I grew up reading national lampoon magazine in the 70’s. Political lampooning these days just has soooo much material to draw from on BOTH sides of the spectrum, that it’s just a bit to much that luckovich’s cartoons target Bush and his cronies so much. And some of them are definitely outside the realm of lampooning and seem more like a vitriolic personal attack. Whatever. But rather than continue to gripe or whine about it, I’ll exercise the strongest arguemtn I have and simply not look at his cartoons. Maybe I’ll even cancel my script to the AJC.

You’re nothing but another whining leftist commie who blames conservatives for the lack of any direction and cognitive message from the liberals. Try a little more balance in your cartoons and maybe you’ll be more entertaining. I can laugh at the expense of conservatives, but it gets old when you consistently refuse to portray the radical left for what they really are: bitter losers who want to change our wonderful capitalist society to a socialist country. You’d have more creditibility if you at least attempted more balance.

Wow. So Mike is a Liberal? Well, let’s just look at the dictionary definition of the term:

lib·er·al
1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry. 2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded. 3. Of, relating to, or characteristic of liberalism. 4. Liberal Of, designating, or characteristic of a political party founded on or associated with principles of social and political liberalism, especially in Great Britain, Canada, and the United States. 2. 1. Tending to give freely; generous: a liberal benefactor. 2. Generous in amount; ample: a liberal serving of potatoes. 3. Not strict or literal; loose or approximate: a liberal translation. 4. Of, relating to, or based on the traditional arts and sciences of a college or university curriculum: a liberal education.

Wow. They sound horrible. Who would want to live next door to someone who might be tolerant of your views and believe they can work to bring progress? I can easily see why Conservatives find them so threatening. Hopefully we can make room in Cuba for them all! LOL.

Conservatives are funny. They would probably make good material for political cartoons. Hmmmmm….

Bobb,

Wow. Two personal attacks. Which, when you call me out by name and toss unfounded accusations, is exactly what those are. I’ve never shown intolerance for your views. In fact my response to you was structured around questions (which you have not answered) and open satire. I can post the definition of satire as well if you wish. It certainly wasn’t “politically correct”. I find PC views to be undigestable. PC means unwilling to take a stand.

Oh..and don’t call me a “victim”. I’m a Gulf War veteran and successful businessman and father. Most people wouldn’t even call me a Liberal, but I am respectful of their position on the issues. Just as I’m respectul, though questioning, of my very conservative friends positions on current events.

You may think this is meant to be a slam…and maybe a little of that seeped in. Regardless, I appreciate your candor though I do think you perhaps don’t have a clear idea of where I’m coming from.

Conservatives on the AJC??? Sure, but they are there just to shut people up. They are being dominated by their liberal counterparts who far outnumber them. The conservative wing of the AJC is underdeveloped and just plain sucks.

People, you’ve got to be smoking the crack. The AJC is horrible. Simply, the opinions of the collective AJC can be summed up in Luckovich. Again, just like many others — I’m here because the AJC is the ONLY regional newspaper in town. Period. Let me repeat, the AJC is the ONLY regional newspaper in town. This can’t be stressed enough. It has a monopoly on the Atlanta market. The Marietta Daily Journal isn’t much better. Was it fair when Rush held up a picture of Chelsea Clinton when she was a pre-teen and made fun of the way she looked then? He wasn’t a political satire artist. Where is he today anyway, where is he rehabing this time? Is it okay for Ann Coulter to say the best way to deal with liberals is with a baseball bat? If you can dish it out, take it too, don’t be girly-men. Don’t be the kid on the play ground that took his toys home if everyhting didn’t go his way. If you throw a punch, be man enough to take one too.

I’m not from Atlanta but do read it on line, as with other newspaper to get a sense of what’s being reported, and cartooned accross the country.

While I don’t likethe Rove int eh pumpkin patch cartoon, I usually LOVE Mike’s work. He has a relevant, valid critical edge to figures who often need to be called on the carpet. Reality it that whichever party is in power is the one that takes more hits. From 1992-200 Clinton and Dems got much more than Republicans did and hte same principle holds today.

Reader who think Mike is “too liberal”…maybe he’s just against abuses of power…so whoever is doing it can be a target.

You obviously have a great God given talent. Unfortunately, there is no need to see your drawings any more. They all say the same thing: Conservative’s, Republican’s and anybody else opposed to socialism/leftism are stupid and Liberal’s and Democrat’s are the ONLY intellectually intelligent beings on the planet. The truth just doesn’t mean anything to you and your employer. Never does to the left.

Your artistic ability, lines and humor are great when we need a laugh during all the political crap we have to put up with in this country from the current administration. Besides that, your work must be working due to fact that your work is able to control the emotions of so many right-wing, reactionary republicans (& libertarians too)!!!

Here’s a little tip from the Clue Fairy to some of the more CHALLENGED posters:

Talking about how you stopped reading the AJC years ago and how little relevance Mike Luckovich’s cartoons have for you is all fine and well, but registering as a member on AJC.com and taking time out from your busy day to post on Luckovich’s log makes you out to be a liar. Clearly you are reading the AJC, else how would you get here in the first place, and obviously Mike Luckovich’s cartoons mean a great deal to you, otherwise why post in his blog?

Oh, and one more thing: political cartoonists make fun of the folks who are in power. These days, that means the Republicans (remember all that talk about “political capital”?).

KC - Don’t worry about it. For the record I was disagreeing the dictionary for including “tolerant of the ideas and behavior of othersâ€? in its definition of liberal. I personally don’t find that to be the case with modern day liberals, and whatever the correct definition of “politically correct” might be, I find its effect gets applied to social and political issues by liberals and prevents honest and open discussion. Again, my personal opinion.

You are truely one of the worst Americans I have ever seen. You seem to take great delight in bashing the presidency and our policies in Iraq. Have you actually talked to any of our troops that are over there? I don’t think so…they are availible by e-mail you know…EVERY one I have writted has responded that morale is high and the people in Iraq are glad to have us there. We are doing wonderful constructive projects in Iraq…but of course you never get around to doing a cartoon on that. You are an unpatriotic, self-centered moron living in a fantasy…I hope that one day your bubble bursts and you can embrace the real world and not just the on the Atlanta urinal and constipation tell you to represent. OK everyone - editorial cartoonists are supposed to cover issues that are going on in the news. Because Conservatives are in power, they are getting all the attention from Mike. For the most part, I enjoy his cartoons because of his take on situations, not because of any Liberal spin. I laughed as hard at Clinton and Kerry cartoons as I do at the Bush ones. No question that Mike has talent, but I echo what many others have stated: It’s biased. That’s unfortunate. We are victims to more and more biased journalism … yes, political cartoons are regarded as journalism. And, yes, there are those who are biased toward Republicans as well. Mike, et. al., just become apart of that sad group of wasted-talented journalists who focus their abilities on whining …

The survey regarding the Presidents job was taken where? What State? How many people? You ask a Democratic city a question like that, then “DUH!!”, the results are what they are. I have usaully voted mixed ticket because of issues from both parties. The AJC, Tucker, Maureen, and the Liberal Others will never look at anything down the middle. The cartoonist, Mr. Mike Luckovich, will never draw anything that goes down the middle (politicaly speaking). He is extremely talented, so if your Right leaning and Christian, do not expect fairness……from him or anyone else at the AJC for that matter.

Again, we have a problem with people not knowing the meaning of “Editorial”. Editorials and editorial cartoons are not objective, and they aren’t journalism, either. They are meant to be subjective.

Editorial cartoons and editorial cartoonists have a slant. That’s what makes them editorials.

Geeze people. If you don’t want liberals calling you stupid, then act like you aren’t.

By toon goon

Love your work Mike.

Have any of you haters considered the fact that if it seems like there is a lot of fun being made of the right wing, that it might be because the right wing has a majority in Washington. And because of that, there is more opportunities for them to do stupid, retarded things that result in being made fun of by Mike Luckovich. I’m sure there were plenty of fat chick jokes, or sex jokes when Slick Willy was in office.

Plus right wingers don’t have a sense of humor anyway, as they tend to want to censor anything remotely funny, so why would a humor cartoonist cater to them?

Umm - maybe you guys missed it but Judith Miller revealed her source and it was not Rove and it was WELL before the editorial that Wilson wrote that supposedly Rove revealed the name to “retaliate”. Please do not let any facts get in the way of your political witch hunt to get Rove. You guys have assumed he was guilty from day one and have fabricated circumstantial evidence to support your self fulfilling prophecy. Yes Rove talked to Novak - but it was after the leak was out and all over town.

Mike- I love your idea about doing a cartoon on something Bush is good at. I’ve been thinking about it and in my opinion Bush is the best brush clearing president we’ve ever had. I’m sure he will not rest until there is no more brush in Crawford, TX. Hey, if you can’t clear out Al Quida you might as well get the next biggest threat to our peace and security, brush. My cartoon idea is to have a picture of Bush clearing brush and have Harriet Miers and Condi Rice dressed up as cheerleaders cheering him on.

Mike, as a former journalist, I enjoy your cartoons immensely. My day just isn’t right until I see your cartoon and read the letters in the AJC. You have an amazing ability to capture the essense of the moment, be it Sept. 11, the Challenger or Lewis Grizzard leaving us.
As for bias, whoever is in power at the moment gets the attention. Clinton didn’t get kid-glove treatment, and now Mr. Bush is feeling the spotlight. To me President Bush has betrayed Republicans with his deficit spending and pork barrel politics. He has more in common with the Democrats I grew up with in Georgia than any Republican I ever knew. I guess it’s true: Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Keep up the brilliant work.

Come on, even the democrats believed the CIA reports. And oh by the way Saddam was stockpiling yellow cake uranium this was documented the inspectors after the war. That is a long way from WMD but also not Play-Doh either.

Look at it this way - Bush is given a memo that says somebody somewhere wants to hijack a plane. And so from that he was supposed to see prophecy of 9-11. Please go back and read the reaction of the left - some even said he let 9-11 happen.

So now you are Bush - and you have memos that say he has WMD and wants to use them - what would you do ?

Bush is a linear thinker - he connects the dots and wants to prevent disaster. Read the congressional record - there is speech after speech from DEMOCRATS during the Clinton years saying Saddam is bad. Again - connect the dots he thought that the war was the answer.

Again - it was a simplistic and foolish thought progression - but not a lie.

It’s so silly to see that all of you rightites think that when Luckovick points out all of W’s faults he is somehow doing a disservice to you by doing his job as a journalist.

Before you read on know that I’m not a Dem……

Whether you think the news is “liberal” or not (which you surely do because that’s what you’re told to think) or not, you can’t help to notice that Mike is not bashing Bush just for the sake of it - he’s actually reporting what is literally going on!

But now that you mention it, maybe Mike should be drawing cartoons and journalist should be reporting about smarter kids with better educations, a surplus in the budget, cleaner air, land and water, less illegal immigration, affordable healthcare, more prosperity for all, more human rights, conservative leaders NOT in legal trouble, and a forward thought process toward an improved future?

Oh wait - that’s right - there is none of that to report.

I will take a president who lied about cheating on his wife anyday over a president who lies to get us into a war. Bush is totally untrustworthy and it bothers me that conservatives are more troubled by a man who cheats on his wife than by a man who needlessly sends our boys off to die. I am also sick to death of hearing about what a “good Christian” Bush is and hearing other conservatives call themselves “good Christians”. There is only one judge of who is and who isn’t a good Christian and it is God. A good Christian shows himself by his acts not by proclaiming himself as such. Also, it is not unAmerican to critisize the president- the conservative proved that for 8 long years!
