This metro Atlanta town spends more than any other Georgia city during the holidays

The holidays are in full effect, and shoppers are swarming the stores to find the best buys of the season. In one Georgia city, the shoppers are pouncing on the sales more than usual.

With a ton of malls and stores to choose from in Georgia, just how much are locals spending?

WalletHub recently released its 2017 holiday budgets, an annual roundup holiday budgets across America.

To determine the results, researchers used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Federal Student Aid, Freddie Mac, Federal Reserve and TransUnion.

They then compared 570 U.S. cities across five key metrics: income, age, debt-to-income ratio, monthly income-to-monthly expenses ratio and savings-to-monthly expenses ratio.

Roswell was the highest-spending area in Georgia. It was No. 74 with a holiday budget of $1,161.

The lowest-spending city in Georgia was Athens. It was No. 548 with a holiday budget of $282. And Atlanta was in the middle at No. 365 with a holiday budget of $569.

Overall, people in Naperville, Illinois, and Sugar Land, Texas, were the No. 1 and No. 2 biggest spenders, respectively. Each had holiday budgets around $2,300. Flint was in last place. Locals there only spend $69.
