For non-believers, the rare breed known as a zedonk, can be seen at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega.

The furry, brown animal with black and white stripped legs was born a few days ago to a donkey mother and a zebra father, the Web site states.

C.W. Wathen, the founder and general manager of the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, has been trying to breed a zedonk for 25 years, according to volunteer Alison Womack.

The zedonk, a female, doesn't have a name yet, Womack said.

Unfortunately, you won’t see this cross breed at Zoo Atlanta. Spokeswoman Keisha Hines-Davis said the zoo doesn’t have cross breeds.

The zedonk is just one of a few hybrids, which include a liger (a lion and a tiger) and a wholphin (a whale and a dolphin).

The zedonk can be seen at the Dahlonega preserve for $10 for adults and $5 for 11-year-olds and under. The preserve is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
