Chances for heavy rain Friday have diminished, the National Weather Service said.

While light showers overnight and into rush hour will end the stretch of dry weather metro Atlanta has enjoyed, there won't be much chance of flooding, forecasters said.

"The best chance of rain will be tomorrow afternoon and early evening," forecaster Steve Nelson said late Thursday night. "But signs of heavy rains look like they're fizzling."

Expect skies over the metro area Friday to remain cloudy on Friday as high temperatures will just reach 70, forecasters said.

"We're not going to have a cold front behind this [rain] pattern ... not like the cold we had after the last rain," Nelson said.

High temperatures will reach 65 degrees on Saturday and about 67 on Sunday.
