Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is seeking name suggestions for his newborn son.

Griffen’s wife, Tiffany, gave birth to the couple’s third child on Thursday, and Griffen watched the boy’s birth on FaceTime from Ford Field. After the first of his two sacks in the Vikings’ 30-23 victory against Detroit Lions, Griffen pulled up his jersey to reveal a message to the fans and a national television audience.

“I just had a baby boy. What should we name him?”

"Seven pounds, 2 ounces, born right before the game, so I was doing my warm-up watching the birth on FaceTime," Griffen told the Star Tribune after his 12th sack later in the game tied his career high for a season. "So (my) wife is healthy, baby is healthy, we don't know his name yet, but it's not about that. I'm happy to have a new addition -- three boys. I don't know what my wife is going to do. It'll drive her crazy. But we're 9-2, and it feels good winning."

The infant joins brothers Greyson and Ellis in the Griffen family, ESPN reported.

Name suggestions began immediately. Tight end Kyle Rudolph thought the name “Rudy Griffen” sounded like a future star. Running back Latavius Murray wondered if there would be another Latavius close to the Vikings, the Star Tribune reported.

“Definitely not Mike,” coach Mike Zimmer joked. “Congratulations to him. It wasn’t expected to have the baby this morning. For him to have to be here, and do the things he did, he’s a team guy all the way.”

Griffen could face a penalty for the T-shirt message. The NFL fine for altering a uniform with a personal message is $6,076 for a first-time offense, ESPN reported.
