The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Hubert Adams, the father of UGA President Dr. Michael F. Adams, has died. He was 87.

Mr. Adams, who lived in Stone Mountain, died Sunday at his home, according to the family.

Visitation isĀ  scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, Snellville. The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home.

One of the great surprises of Mr. Adams' life came in the summer of 1997, when he found Dr. Adams, would be named president of UGA. A family-written tribute says Mr. Adams was already a loyal Bulldog fan, but in his retirement years "he attended hundreds of UGA sporting events, always with one of the best seats in the house."
