For the AJC
American Airlines has been randomly slashing airfare rates from Atlanta to spot destinations in Latin and South America.
Today the carrier offers a rare $900 round-trip deal to Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Rules are few. Travel is permitted seven days a week, based on the availability of “Q” seats. A 7-day advance purchase notice is required. The minimum stay is any two nights and trips must be completed within 90 days of departure.
The huge bonus of this rate is that this low rate is valid on trips taken through Feb. 12, 2014 — and there are no blackout dates over key holidays or seasons.
One other bonus feature permits travelers to a free stopover in either Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas or Miami - both gateway airports to Brazil.
Compare American’s rate of $900 to Delta’s lowest rate of $1,515!
Don’t delay on this offer. It’s expected to vanish today (3/18).
Rio is the second largest city in Brazil and the state capital of Rio de Janeiro. The city is best known for its beaches, carnivals, football, music and its well preserved tropical forests. Tourists mainly come to Rio not just because of it musical diversity and beaches but also because of its flora and fauna.

Sale airfares are always subject to change. Every seat on every flight is not offered at the lowest rate. Since only a limited supply of seats is available, act quickly to make your purchase.
I recommend starting the search for available seats at Kayak.com vs. calling an airline directly. You can also search for the sale at travel websites such as Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity, etc.
Airlines can discontinue or pull a sale price without notice when the offer does not have a “ticket-by” date or when the offer is deemed “sold out.”
