The indictment against Jeffrey Pombert, James Harper III and Jerry Chapman was handed down Thursday by a Cobb County grand jury, charging the three men with theft by taking and violation of Georgia's Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act.

According to the indictment, beginning in 2000 and continuing though early last year, the men "in concert with one another and with others did, through a pattern of racketeering activity, unlawfully take and/or endeavor to take the property and/or money of another in the approximate amount of $3 million from Glock."

The indictment alleges that Harper, who was employed by Glock as an outside legal counsel, and the other men set up bank accounts and transferred funds and assets from Glock to those accounts for "their own personal use and control."

Harper, 55,  of Atlanta, ran and lost in the 1998 election for Georgia attorney general. In the 1998 Republican primary, Harper came in fourth out of four candidates. He worked as a federal prosecutor under a number of U.S. attorneys in Atlanta.

Harper was released from the Cobb County Jail Saturday on $100,000 bond.

Pombert, 41, of Lawrenceville, was released Monday evening on $100,000 bond, according to jail records.  Chapman, 61, of Loganville, was being held in the Cobb jail with no bond  on Tuesday.
