A 15-year-old girl hit by a boat while tubing on Lake Lanier remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened Sunday afternoon as the girl, whose identity has not been released, was pulled on a tube by a boat, according to the state Department of Natural Resources. The girl and a friend fell off the tube just as another boat approached, DNR spokesman Rick Lavender told the AJC.

"The driver swerved to miss one and ended up hitting the other," he said.

The girl was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she's in critical condition.

Though the investigation continues, no charges are expected against the driver of the boat that hit the girl, Lavender said.
