Suspect in bank shootout arrested
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A robbery suspect who got into a shootout in a Griffin bank has been arrested, police said.
William Lee Hunt Jr., 27, of Woodbury is charged in Thursday's attempted robbery of the First National Bank on Zebulon Road. Police say he walked in and demanded workers fill a bag with cash.
Hunt then pointed a gun at employees and exchanged gunfire with one of them, police said. No one was hurt.
Hunt fled but was arrested Friday night thanks to a cooperative effort by the FBI, the Pike County Sheriff's Department, the Meriweather County Sheriff's Department and Griffin Police, according to Griffin police spokesman Bryan Clanton.
Clanton said Hunt could be a person of interest in other bank robberies.
