Sunshine and warmth to usher in Atlanta's spring
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Saturday's first day of spring will be beautiful, with sunshine and temperatures several degrees warmer than normal. The second day of spring, not so nice.
Clouds will increase by Sunday, when there's an 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, according to WSB-TV meteorologist David Chandley.
"I think the rain and possible thunderstorms will hold off until late in the day and evening," Chandley said.
Until then, enjoy Saturday's sunshine and warmth, as highs climb to about 73 degrees.
Spring arrives at 1:32 p.m. Saturday, and Chandley said, "It's about time. What a winter it has been."
Atlanta's normal high for the first day of spring is 66.
Sunday will be about 10 degrees cooler, with highs in the low 60s, and on Monday, highs will only reach the low 50s. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s to low 50s through the weekend, but could dip into the mid- to upper 30s early next week.
