CORAL GABLES —
University of Miami linebacker Denzel Perryman, who continues to be bothered by a right ankle sprain that forced him to miss two games, is listed as probable for Thursday night’s game against Virginia Tech according to an injury report released by UM on Tuesday.
Perryman, the Hurricanes’ second-leading tackler with 47 stops, is coming off one of his most-productive games of the season. The sophomore compiled 12 tackles and forced a fumble in UM’s 33-20 loss to Florida State on Oct. 20.
Perryman missed the Georgia Tech and North Carolina State games after sustaining a high ankle sprain against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 15. He has been forced to come out of a game at least once since his return because of discomfort in the ankle, but has been UM’s most effective defensive player this season.
The only other new name on UM’s injury report is No. 3 tailback Eduardo Clements, who will miss the rest of the season after sustaining an undisclosed injury against FSU.
Noteworthy: Former UM coach Jimmy Johnson will be honored on the field during Thursday’s game for his selection into the College Football Hall of Fame.
