Christopher Theodore Freeman, 24, was arrested by Powder Springs police after the incident early Monday morning. He remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

A concerned driver stopped an officer to report a white SUV driving on the wrong side of the road. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Powder Springs-Dallas Road and Florence Road, according to with Lt. Matt Boyd with Powder Springs police.

The vehicle failed to stop, and the pursuit continued. The SUV then left the roadway, striking a tree on Corner Road near Macland Road, Boyd said. Freeman attempted to flee on foot, but was caught. He was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital for injuries to his leg and arm.

After Freeman was released from the hospital, he was taken into custody, Boyd said.

Freeman, who was apparently driving with a suspended license, faces numerous charges, including reckless driving, speeding and attempting to elude police. Additionally, he was cited for driving under the influence and for violating the open container law.
