Fayette County schools are keeping clinics open and staffed despite budget cuts, but the school board is seeking donated bandages, paper cups, antibiotic ointment, cotton balls, gauze and other items.

Donations can be dropped this week at red “Team Clinic” barrels at each school or at Fayette County Board of Education headquarters in Fayetteville.

Spokeswoman Melinda Berry-Dreisbach said this is the first year a formal supplies drive has been established, and that clinics will accept donations throughout the year. “The school system will find a way to make sure the clinics have what they need to service the children,” she said.
