Roswell man kills dad, himself
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The 38-year-old man who killed his father, then turned the gun on himself in Roswell Saturday evening was upset because his dad would not give him alcohol and pills, police told WSB-TV.
“The son was asking the father to provide him with some alcohol and pills,” Sgt. Bobby Brackett told the station. “When he refused, the son then turned on the father.”
The murder-suicide happened about 6:30 p.m. on Shadowood Court. Police identified the father as 64-year-old Charles Oliver Sr., a bus driver for Fulton County schools, and the son as Charles Oliver, according to WSB-TV.
Brackett told the station that the 38-year-old man called his sister to say he didn’t mean to hurt their father. When the sister asked a neighbor to check in, the neighbor arrived to find the father dead.
“At the time the witness was in the house, (the son) shot himself,” Brackett told the station. “He fell on top of the father’s body, but that shot was not fatal.”
The neighbor ran out to call 911. When police surrounded the house, the son was on the patio. It was there that he killed himself.
