Police: Driver drunk in fatal wreck
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A Douglas County magistrate denied bond Tuesday for the woman accused of causing a head-on collision that killed a mother and child and wounded two others.
Authorities say that Natasha Searcy, 22, was driving drunk in her 1998 Pontiac when she crossed the center line of Skyview Drive at 5:45 a.m. Monday, striking a car driven by 25-year-old Ashley Ingalsbe.
Luke Ingalsbe, 4, died in the crash. Ashley Ingalsbe died Monday afternoon, according to Lt. Paul Cosper of the Georgia State Patrol.
Ingalsbe’s 2-year-old son Jacob and her boyfriend, Thomas Vinnacombe, were also injured.
All involved were wearing seatbelts, Cosper said.
Vinnacombe is being treated at Atlanta Medical Center for fractured ribs and a spleen injury and may face surgery, according to his aunt, Amy Thomas. His 24th birthday was Sunday, according to voting records.
Jacob was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where he was treated and released, said hospital spokeswoman Amy Adams.
Searcy had only minor injuries in the collision and was treated and released at WellStar Cobb Hospital the same day, Adams said.
Searcy has been charged with vehicular homicide in the first and second degrees, driving under the influence, not having insurance and failure to maintain lane in the early morning fatal wreck, according to Douglas County jail officials.
She is being held at the Douglas County jail on suicide watch, authorities said.
