Q: The photo caption at the bottom of A13 in the Oct. 21 AJC says that Beijing has the world’s largest airport. Is it bigger than the Atlanta airport?

A: Beijing Capital International Airport’s new Terminal 3, which opened before the Olympic Games in 2008, is the world’s largest airport in size. The $3.8 million terminal, which spans 240 acres, also is the world’s largest covered structure. It will be able to handle 96 million passengers a year and 1,590 flights a day, according to a McClatchy News Service report. It is one of the 10 busiest airports in the world; Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport remains the world’s busiest airport, with 978,084 takeoffs and landings in 2008. The terminal was designed by London-based Foster and Partners.

Q: The AJC wrappers are printed with “Recycle #4.” The recyclers familiar to me (in Cobb County) take hard plastic and #2 bags. Where can we recycle #4 wrappers?

A: Items labeled #1-#7, which identifies what kind of plastic the item is made of, can be recycled in Marietta at locations such as Harry’s Whole Foods Market at 70 Powers Ferry Road S.E. and SP Recycling at 1131 Atlanta Industrial Drive, said Gwen Baldwin, public programs coordinator for Keep Cobb Beautiful. Whole Foods and SP Recycling also have other locations in the metro area.
