Two people shot along Ga. 400
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Two Roswell men who were shot early Tuesday while driving along Ga. 400 in Sandy Springs have been treated for their wounds and released from a local hospital, but police are still trying to determine why the men were targeted.
The men were in a 1999 Honda Odyssey minivan headed northbound on Ga. 400 near Northridge Road when they were shot just before 5 a.m., according to Sandy Springs police Lt. Steve Rose.
Rose told the AJC that the victims and a third man in the van who was uninjured told investigators that they had left the Atlanta Peach Ballroom, a dance club on Buford Highway, but had not been in any previous altercations or road rage incidents before someone in a white vehicle, possibly an SUV, pulled alongside them and opened fire.
One of the victims was shot in the arm, and the bullet lodged in his chest. The other victim was shot in the cheek. Rose identified the wounded men as Juan M. Macedo, 33, and Molina Fernando, 23, both of Roswell. The third man in the van was identified as Sandoval Vazquez, 34, of Marietta.
The wounded men were treated at North Fulton Hospital and released, then were interviewed at police headquarters.
Rose asked that anyone who might have witnessed the shooting or who has any information call Det. Joe Williams at 770-551-6990.
Police briefly closed all northbound lanes of Ga. 400, but reopened most lanes while the shooting was being investigated alongside the highway.
