Smoltz to speak at Boy Scout fund-raiser

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz will be the guest speaker at a Jan. 20 fund-raiser for the north Fulton district of the Boy Scouts of America.
The event starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Metropolitan Club at 5895 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta. There is no admission but donations are requested. Reservations should be made by e-mailing Diane Flad at theflads@bellsouth.net. Information, call Cristi Wells at 770-989-2883.
