A hostage situation in Johns Creek ended peacefully early Tuesday.

A man had been holding his 9-year-old son hostage in a car at a shopping center at Jones Bridge Road near Old Alabama Road. There was no evidence that the man was armed or threatened the boy. The standoff ended around 5:30 a.m. when the man surrendered to police. The boy was not injured, and the man was taken to the Fulton County jail.

Johns Creek spokeswoman Rosemary Taylor said the incident began about 1:40 a.m. with a domestic dispute in an apartment on Kingsley Circle, not far from the shopping center.

Police did not immediately release the suspect's name.
