A father was kidnapped but the rest of his frightened family was left behind by several men who staged a home invasion in the Johns Creek Colony Glen subdivision Saturday morning, according to police.

Dunwoody police found the father walking in a residential area a short time later, and he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which police did not detail. No one else was harmed, said police spokeswoman Rosemary Taylor.

Police got a call at 7:24 a.m. Saturday that five to seven men had forced their way into a house on Colony Glen Drive.

The father and two cars were taken and the remaining four to five people in the house fled to a neighbor’s  to call for help. Children were in the house when the home invaders crashed in, Taylor said.

Police are still processing the scene so there was no information concerning how the men got into the house or the relationships of the people in the house though most of them are believed to be related, Taylor said.
