The pickup driver whose passenger was ejected from the truck bed and killed has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide.

Sandy Springs police charged Jack Mize, 69, of Chamblee in last week's accident on I-285 at New Northside Drive.  Evilio Morales, 35, of Chamblee died from injuries he suffered after being flung from the pickup.

Around 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, Mize sideswiped a Mercedes in the westbound lanes, then lost control of the pickup, police said. The truck rolled and Morales was ejected. Mize and a passenger in the cab of the pickup suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Mize also was charged with a lane violation.
