The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A UGA freshman who accused a former football star from the school of attacking him last weekend has recanted his story.

Stephen Anderson, 18, has chosen to not file charges against Knowshon Moreno, a former UGA Bulldog tailback and member of the NFL's Denver Broncos football team.

“He has chosen not to at this time,” Hilda Sorrow, Athens-Clarke County Police spokeswoman, told the AJC. “And detectives have found that there is not probable cause for us to file charges.”

As a result, the investigation has been closed, Sorrow said.

Anderson filed a report late Monday afternoon accusing three men of jumping him inside the Bourbon Street Bar on Broad Street. The incident occurred around midnight, Feb. 21. He did not know if Moreno was one of the three.

Moreno’s name came up after Anderson consulted with his friends about what may have happened that night. A concussion, he said, may have been the reason for his fogginess from the night.
