Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ranked first for connecting flights, business travel services and amenities, according to an annual survey of agents from Travel Leaders Group.

The survey included responses from 930 owners, managers, and travel experts within the Travel Leaders Group, a North American travel agency franchisor.

Atlanta beat out other hubs as the best airport for connecting flights, while over 50 percent of agents said their clients tried to avoid Chicago’s O’Hare International for connecting flights.

Amenities and dining were two other areas placing Atlanta on top, according to travel agents.

Barry Liben, Travel Leaders Group chief executive officer, said airports have been transformed considerably in the last decade to accommodate travelers spending a lot of time at them during layovers. .

“At some of the busiest airports around the United States, there has been an explosion in service such as mini spas and salons, along with a retooling of the retail space toward higher-end goods and electronics,” Liben said in a statement on the survey. “More amenities have been added to appeal to travelers – and in many cases, to occupy their time – while they wait for their flights.”
