The Georgia House on Monday overwhelmingly re-elected its top leadership as Democrats failed to nominate a candidate for either position.
Speaker David Ralston, R-Blue Ridge, and Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones, R-Milton, were re-elected 160-18 and 162-16, respectively.
The chamber also adopted new House rules, including a provision that prohibits members from meeting with individuals whom they believe should be registered as a lobbyist but are not. This measure does not apply to a member’s constituent.
The rules passed on a largely party line vote, 118-57.
