Georgia at the DNC

The Democratic National Convention starts Tuesday in Charlotte, and Georgia’s delegation includes 151 delegates, alternates and elected officials.

The week’s highlight will be President Barack Obama’s acceptance of the party’s nomination Thursday night outside at Bank of America stadium.

U.S. Rep. John Lewis is the only Georgian with a live speaking role at the convention, although former President Jimmy Carter will address delegates Tuesday night via video.

Other top speakers include former President Bill Clinton, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren and former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida.
