Fitness took center stage Monday at Gwinnett’s Berkmar Middle School. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal, Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils Jake Steinfeld, dignitaries and more than 350 students participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s state-of-the-art Live PositivelyTM Fitness Center. Berkmar and two other schools were awarded fitness centers for demonstrating innovative ways to promote student physical activity and wellness. The other winners are Harper Archer Middle School and C.L Gideons Elementary School, both in Atlanta Public Schools.
