Popular charter school in Gwinnett plans admission lottery

By Nancy Badertscher

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

They’re having a lottery in Gwinnett County next week, and the winners will be freshmen at Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology (GSMST). The Lawrenceville charter school is so popular that as of Feb. 1, 847 current eighth grade students had submitted registration for 350 available seats for next fall’s freshman class. An admission’s lottery begins at 7:30 a.m. Monday at the school district’s Instructional Support Center, 437 Old Peachtree Rd., NW in Suwanee. Students who completed the registration process were assigned a lottery number and have been notified by email of their number, as well as the lottery time, date, and location.
