A pop-up storm brought trees and power lines down Friday afternoon in north Fulton County.

Georgia Power said about 6,000 customers in the metro area were without electricity shortly before 7 p.m. But the majority of those outages were repaired within the hour and the remainder by midnight, the utility company said.

Most of the damage affected the area west of Ga. 400 in Alpharetta, according to George Gordon, spokesman for the city’s police department.

Traffic lights at various intersections were affected, Gordon said. At least two roads were temporarily blocked by trees, he said.

Scattered showers and storms are possibly throughout Friday evening, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz. Saturday’s forecast includes partly cloudy skies with the possibility for isolated storms, Nitz said.
