A Georgia woman has come forward claiming she is the voice behind Apple’s automated voice assistant, Siri.

SUSAN BENNETT: “I’m Susan Bennett. You probably know me. I’m the voice actor who provided the voice for Siri.” “Siri, would you like to be interviewed by CNN?” (Via CNN)

Even though Bennett has come forward, Apple hasn’t officially confirmed whether she’s the voice of the iPhone assistant, and the company that reportedly gave Apple access to the voiceovers isn’t talking either.

CNN had the exclusive interview with Bennett, and media outlets nationwide have now covered the story. Bennett said she recorded the voices for Siri back in 2005 — six years before they were even used. (Via ABC)

She says the voices were recorded for four hours a day for an entire month. She had no idea where the recorded voices would end up being used. (Via WJXT)

And Bennett says it wasn’t Apple that let her know the voice was being used initially on the iPhone 4S. One of her friends heard the voice coming from an iPhone and asked if it was Bennett’s voice. (Via WXIA)

That’s when Bennett went on Apple’s website, only to find out those long lost voiceovers from 2005 finally found a home on the iPhone 4S, Apple’s first Siri-enabled device.

And even though Apple hasn’t confirmed it’s Bennett’s voice yet, The Verge reports a so-called voice forensics expert is very certain it’s her voice. In fact, Bennett said the reason she came forward was because of a Verge article which said many people wanted to know who the voice of Siri was.

The announcement conveniently comes exactly two years after the iPhone 4S was released on Oct. 4, 2011. Bennett says her voice is also heard in airports and on GPS devices.
