The lone, mystery winner in Florida hasn’t come forward yet with the golden ticket. But that doesn’t mean Georgians are missing out on the winnings.
Here’s a by-the-numbers look at the Peach State winners from the big weekend lotteries, according to the Georgia Lottery:
$1 million: Amount won by two tickets sold at RaceTrac at 1465 Riverstone Parkway in Canton and Corner Cupboard at 3857 Milgen Road in Columbus.
17: Number of tickets sold in Georgia worth $10,000. Two were sold in Decatur and one each sold in Buford, Columbus, Lindale, Duluth, Savannah, Atlanta, Marietta, Buchanan, Calhoun, Carrollton, Hiram, Covington, Cumming, Mableton and an Internet wager winner.
$36.8 million: Amount Georgians spent on Powerball tickets for the Saturday roll.
$14.9 million: Amount earned for education in Georgia from Powerball ticket sales. The remainder of the money goes toward prizes.
8: Where Georgia ranks among number of Powerball winners. Out of the 7,598,547 who won some prize amount, 229,721 were in Georgia. California had the most winners with 769,585.
$2: Cost of a Powerball ticket. Players can add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play.
$20.9 million: Amount Georgians spent to play Mega Millions for the Friday roll.
$8.5 million: Amount earned for education in Georgia from Mega Millions tickets.
