A woman was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after being hit by a train in Auburn on Thursday afternoon.
Police and Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene in the area of Ga. 8 and Ga. 324 just after 3 p.m.
The woman was conscious and talking with rail workers when help arrived, Auburn police spokeswoman Sgt. Diana Campbell said in the news release. Authorities do not know why the woman was in the area of the train tracks.
