Atlanta weather | Warm-up on the way

By Mike Morris

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The work week is beginning dry, with highs in the 50s, but should end wet, with afternoon temperatures climbing well into the 60s.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said that while morning lows Monday were near freezing in some spots, “we’ve got a huge warm-up on the way.”

Minton is predicting highs in the low 50s Monday and Tuesday, the low 60s on Wednesday and in the mid-60s Thursday and Friday.

Mornings will be in the mid-30s Tuesday, mid-40s Wednesday and mid-50s by week’s end.

Minton said the next possibility of rain — a 40 percent chance — will be Wednesday through Friday.

Normal highs for the second week of January are around 52 degrees, with lows normally in the mid-30s.
