While arresting a suspect on traffic charges last week, Fairburn police found hundreds of documents containing personal information.
The suspect, whose name police did not release, had documents containing individuals’ names, birth dates and Social Security numbers, authorities said. Some copies of birth certificates and Social Security cards were among the paperwork.
The documents appear to come from the Beechgrove Apartments in Westwego, La., near New Orleans, an investigator determined. About 150 apartment rental application packets were discovered.
An apartment representative told police the documents may have been taken when the complex was burglarized in 2012.
Anyone who lived in the Beechgrove Apartments or submitted an application to do so between 2002 and 2009 is urged to check their credit reports, authorities said. Call Fairburn police at 770-683-4096 and your local law enforcement agency to report any suspected fraud.
