Suspects crash after fleeing traffic stop

By Angel K. Brooks

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Three of four suspects were in custody Wednesday night after crashing a car while fleeing a traffic stop, Doraville police said.

Two of the suspects who were arrested are juveniles, Doraville police spokesman Gene Callaway said.

An officer attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Buford Highway, but the driver fled the scene. Police pursued the vehicle but later backed off and saw the vehicle crash on Northcrest Road near the golf driving range, Callaway said.

The occupants of the vehicle got out and ran across the range. Three were quickly caught, and there was a search in the area for the fourth.

Stephanie Cassamas, who lives in a nearby subdivision, said she saw police and dogs searching in her neighborhood.

“It was pretty scary,” she said.

There was no immediate word on what charges the suspects will face.
