Sports-themed auction to help combat skin disease in Liberia

By Shelia Poole

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Here’s a way to snag a few sports souvenirs and help a good cause.

Rennie Curran, a former football player at the University of Georgia and the NFL, and MAP International are sponsoring a sports themed art auction and reception on from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Hard Rock Cafe, 215 Peachtree St. N.E.

Curran’s parents left Liberia to escape the conflict and establish a better life in the United States.

Proceeds from the event will be used to fight Buruli ulcer, a chronic debilitating skin disease, in Liberia.

Georgia sports artist Dylan Ross will offer several pieces of his work for auction featuring Curran and other athletes.

Admission is $25 per person.
