Andrea Sneiderman has begun serving her five-year prison sentence at Arrendale State Prison in northeast Georgia.

Atlanta attorney Brian Steel, who is working on the 37-year-old Dunwoody woman’s appeal, said she was transferred from the DeKalb County Jail just hours after her sentencing Tuesday.

Sneiderman was convicted Aug. 19 on nine of 13 felony charges related to the 2010 death of her husband, Rusty. The jury found her guilty of perjury, lying to police and hindering the apprehension of a criminal – Hemy Neuman, who was convicted last year of shooting Rusty Sneiderman in front of a Dunwoody day care facility.

Sneiderman had been originally charged with murder, but prosecutors dropped that charge before trial. She also faces a civil suit filed by Rusty Sneiderman’s family.

Arrendale is a women’s prison with room for 1,476 prisoners on the outskirts of Alto, a city of just over 1,000 residents straddling the lines of Banks, Habersham and Hall counties.
