Report: Teen dies in accidental shooting

By Alexis Stevens

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Dozens gathered Thursday night to remember 13-year-old Bartow County boy killed in a shooting accident.

Robert Taylor III, of Cartersville, died Wednesday after being shot in a friend's home, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

The shooting was accidental and the gunshot wound was not self-inflicted, Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap told the newspaper. The shooter's name has not been released.

Deputies were called to the Freedom Drive home around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday and found Robert with a gunshot wound, according to the report. He was taken to Cartersville Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The other teen was not injured but was taken to a Rome hospital for evaluation, Millsap said.

A candlelight vigil was held Thursday night on a baseball field to reflect the teen's love of the game.
