The National Weather Service said a few of the Tuesday afternoon storms could be strong, with locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.
Afternoon highs will be in the mid-80s Tuesday and Wednesday, climbing into the upper 80s Thursday through Saturday. Atlanta’s normal high for early August is 89 degrees.
Overnight lows this week will be in the low 70s, about normal for this time of year.
Monday was the fourth straight rain-free day at the city’s official reporting station at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the most consecutive dry days since five days without rain in mid-June.
