PTA fundraiser exceeds goals for school improvements

By Mark Niesse

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Parents and members of the community surrounding Mary Lin Elementary School raised $55,000 in donations this month during a fundraiser for academic and school improvements.

The Home Run-a-Thon, sponsored by the east Atlanta school’s parent and teacher association, encouraged students to celebrate fitness by running around a baseball diamond while donations poured in.

Individual and business donors far exceeded their goal of raising $35,000, and the money will go toward facilities, curricular improvement, faculty development and classroom supplies.
