Pedestrian hit and killed in Newton County

By Mike Morris

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday morning in Newton County, authorities said.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said the female pedestrian was walking along Ga. 81 near Oak Hill Road when she was hit around 7 a.m.

Wright said the driver stopped a short distance away and called 911.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been determined.

“At this time, no identification has been located on the victim and she had no personal belongings with her,” Wright said. “Her age is also not known.”

Ga. 81 was shut down in both directions while officials investigated the incident.
