By Daarel Burnette II

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A Douglasville man was arrested for public intoxication Saturday night, released an hour later after posting bond and then, within minutes, was hit by a car. Gary Latimer, 41, died from his injuries Tuesday morning.

Police are now searching for the car involved in that hit-and-run accident, which happened on Sunset Drive and Fairburn Road.

They describe the car as a maroon or burgundy 1997 or 1998 Buick Regal.

It may have a broken passenger’s side view mirror and passenger’s side or front end damage.

Anyone with information on the case should call the Georgia State Patrol at 770-459-3661.

Authorities are offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest and prosecution.
