A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday for a fatal shooting in northwest Atlanta earlier this month.

Johnny Lanakki Farrington was apprehended by the fugitive unit on a murder warrant and taken to the Fulton County Jail, Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said. The charges against him include murder and aggravated assault.

Two people were found in a damaged vehicle when police were dispatched to the 800 block of Rock Street NW the afternoon of Jan. 2. The driver was dead from a gunshot wound, while the passenger was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with back injuries sustained when the vehicle hit a sidewalk, police said.

Police identified the deceased victim as 23-year-old Elijah Edmondson of Cartersville.

No information about a possible motive has been released.
