Kroger recalls some Mardi Gras king cakes

By News Staff

Kroger’s Atlanta Division announced Monday that it is recalling some Mardi Gras king cakes because they may contain pecans not listed on the label.

People who are allergic to pecans could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they eat the cake, according to the news release.

The recall applies to in-store made Bakery Mardi Gras King Cake Cinnamon sold at more than 200 stores in four states — Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and eastern Tennessee. The product has a “sell by” date of Feb. 7 or earlier and the UPC code 4157327767.

Anyone who bought the cake between Dec. 30, 2012, and Monday should return the product for a refund or a replacement.

Customers with questions should contact Kroger at 800-576-4377 or visit www.kroger.com/recalls.
